Before I watched this film, I was living my life the wrong way. I'm not going to spoil it for people who haven't watched it or have only read the comics but Michael Cera's career-making performance changed my entire life. I have moved to Toronto, Canada in pursuit of living as Scott. I quit my job and legally changed my name to Scott Pilgrim and took up learning the bass. I live in an apartment with a homosexual roomate named Wallace who is overly sarcastic yet loveable and am now the bassist in a band named Sex-Bob-Omb. Currently I'm dating a girl who is as close to Chinese as I could find called Forks, not for long because as soon as possible I will find a girl named Ramona to get involved with. I've been brushing up on my karate skills in preparation for the 7 exes I will soon find myself battling. Every day I watch my silly little Scott Pilgrim hidden messages you didn't notice the first time, in my Scott Pilgrim duvet surrounded by my silly little Scott Pilgrim posters. WATCH THIS FILM OR I WILL EAT YOU.

Great fun film full of amusing moments.
The band's music is also really good and scuzzy.
Lots going on in each frame and scene.
Weirdly, *spoiler alert* Scott Pilgrim ends up with the wrong girl at the end. In the book, he ends up with the decent one. Apparently, screen test audiences wanted the ending changed so he was with the not so nice one.
Shame, but still a solid 4* movie.

Just remember that there are plenty of anecdotes online about just what an unpleasant person Michael Cera is in real life.

As an uber fan of the books, I couldn't face just buying the standard blu-ray release of this movie. Though upon research the special features were pretty much the same if not worse vs the standard disc.

The movie if you have not seen it is a fantastic conversion from the graphic novels. Michael Cera is the perfect Scott Pilgrim - there is in fact not a single mis-cast character in this movie.

The actual steelbook is really nice, its unusual to see a landscape depiction across the cover - and the image is actually embossed too so adds a bit extra to the quality.

The steelbook version is absolutely worth the extra money if you're a fan of the books or movie.. or just relate to the story of finding the literal girl of your dreams (then having to fight her ex-lovers for her)

Scott Pilgrim vs The World was not a film I was expecting to be able to sit through much less love. From the trailers, the cover of the Blu-ray disk and the premise of the movie I was not expecting what turned out to be a really enjoyable movie that was as unique as it was fun.

This is definitely not a movie for everyone and certainly not for someone who enjoys their films to be grounded in reality. There is so much in this movie that would be on most film makers 'do not do under any circumstances' list but for some reason it works here.

I could go into great detail about what was great about this ridiculous story of a young man who has to battle 'seven evil exes' in order to win over a young woman he is infatuated with, but instead I will ask you to simply take a chance on it. The film is highly surreal and bares little resemblance to reality but that only ads to its charm.

The picture and sound quality of this film is top notch.

It is a great film to watch in blu-ray because the hyper clarity of the world in which this movie is set. The action sequences are well filmed and look brilliant in high def and the ultra high contrast and vivid colours will give your TV a thorough testing.

The audio as well can't be faulted. The sound is immersive but not overwhelming and only ads to the quality of the film.

Overall this is a highly enjoyable film that succeeds as both an enjoyable movie and a great Blu-ray production. Again it is not for everyone but for people looking for something a little different I recommend giving this a try.

Where do you even start with this film? I know I'll start by saying it's frickin amazing! One of my all time favourites, it's just so hilariously stupid, silly, dumb etc... The cast do an absolutely brilliant job, some of the quotes and one liners still have me on the ground laughing even after the 100th or so watch of this film. Just the way in which the film was shot gives it that video game type feel to it which is very cool, the music is top notch. This is just one of those films you can watch over and over and over again and never get bored.

Scott Pilgrium vs the World - Steelbook cover

The cover for this is superb, using the comic books as inspiration to create something more unique. The movie itself is one of my all time favourites, directed by Edgar Wright, it’s witty, hilarious and so wonderfully different from so many others made I wish more were made like it!

Scott Pilgrim Can't Sustain Its Own Hype
Verified purchase
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World starts particularly strong, being lively, eccentric and pretty much priceless. Sadly it becomes repetitive as the story simply follows its course without bringing anything new or exciting to the table. Its long running time comes to amplify its lack of imagination and causes unbearable and disheartening boredom.

I liked the comic, this was boring.

The characters in the Scott Pilgrim comics are inherently likable, because they are drawn cute. Comic characters can get away with things real actors can't. Bart Simpson or the South Park boys would be insufferable if they were portrayed by real children.

Maybe this is why, even though I enjoyed the SP comics, I found myself disinterested in Scott's and Ramona's movie romance. He's whiny, a jerk and has no charisma to make up for it. She's aloof and seems arrogant. What do they see in each other? I would have preferred to see the movie without these two in it. I liked Knives, Wallace and Scott's Band.
