Without doubt his jacket has a very weird fit!..... I followed the advice of a couple of the poor reviews and sized up and I am glad I did because if id picked my usual size (large) I don't think i would have got it on.
For reference I am 6'3" 189lbs 42" chest 35" waist, slim build with long arms. I usually buy 16.5" collared shirts with the 1.5" longer sleeves in a slim fit.
According to Schott's website I should be a large in this and my Schott pea coat bought years ago in a large absolutely buries me. I sized up to XL because of two reviews I read which is a 46" chest according to the website.
Firstly, when you are standing up straight arms at you side not moving, the jacket feels great and it looks great too. A very modern urban look if that makes sense? Its not something I would hike in as its thick and heavy but would definitely keep you warm in quite low temperatures even though it is not technical like proper outdoor jacket (you know what I mean).
However, there is a problem and its down to the fact the arms and shoulders are very tight, especially under the armpits where the material literally presses into the pit so when you move it feels like you have a life jacket on and someone is lifting you up by grabbing the hood. I don't think its possible to wear anything other than a thin tee-shirt under this jacket, but on the plus side that's all you would need as the padding is fantastic.
I don't think I could have sized up anymore as I would have lost the fit around the waist. Its already very generous padding wise and anyone slightly overweight is going to look like they're smuggling beachballs.
basically if you are in your 20's 5'8" thin as a rake with a pigeon chest and short arms, this jacket is for you (but still size up).
