Scarface (1983)

8.32 h 50 min1983X-RayHDRUHD18
In the spring of 1980, the port at Mariel Harbor was opened, and thousands set sail for the United States. They came in search of the American Dream. One of them found it on the sun-washed avenues of Miami wealth, power and passion beyond his wildest dreams. He was Tony Montana. The world will remember him by another name, Scarface.

Scarface The World is Yours
This seminal eighties gangster movie is both a product of its time and a put down of the industry that created it.
All Pacino excellent in a largely repulsive role, he by his own admission plays Tony Montana in 'two dimensions',
He is supported very ably a profane script (which no apology should be made for-if you can't cope with the 'F' word, don't buy this.
His co-stars across the board are excellent-Michelle Pfeiffer, then a rising star, Steven Bauer, again on the rise.
The older stars predominately working actors whom got given a larger audience through their exposure on Scarface.
Mark Margolis as Alberto, Robert Loggia as Frank (Montana's sponsor), the late Paul Shenar as Alexander Soza , Pacino's friend and enemy. Mary Elizabeth Mastronatio as Gina, Tony's sister.

Beautifully lit by John A Alonzo, edited and embroiled in controversy (much as Pacino's Cruising had been three years earlier), this gangster movie has grown in stature , after a critical hammering.
After 1st seeing this movie on video, then wide screen video, and then DVD and finally blu ray.
Which finally does John A Alonzo's lighting some real justice and Brian De Palma's direction justice.

This cigar box set is worth buying if you are die hard Scarface fan, in a faux cigar box set-containing photograph
This, a money clip and a Green card .
Three versions of Scarface (blu ray, digital and DVD of 1932 original).

Well worth looking out for but don't pay silly money for it.

One of the best films of all time.

Easily one of my top 5 films of all time. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favour and watch it before they release the remake (yes, there's a remake in the works). This film is also home to some of the most memorable scenes and lines of dialogue in film history. Be warned though, this film pulls no punches. Gore, violence and bad language ahoy. So don't show it to your children. If you're an adult and aren't easily offended, go for it. You won't regret it!

I only just saw this movie, and I can confirm it stands the test of time brilliantly. The story is very well done, the acting is excellent and there's plenty of highly memorable quotes and moments. Definitely a good watch, even now.
Superb, would reccomend.

Masterpiece: How Greed Ruins a Man
Verified purchase
Wow. Stunning. An incredible depiction of how the greed of a power-hungry man destroys him. Riches, women, drugs, power...all the best that this world has to offer is chased by Tony Montana (Pacino). But on the way he ruins his family, murders, engages in evil and, despite building up enormous riches, slowly ruins himself as a person. His motto "The World is Yours" is symbolic. This is a brilliant masterpiece depicting the darkness of greed.

The DVD is yours!.

Anyone who has seen this movie needs no description or introduction - I once owned the single disc to this immortal 80's crime drama, not much of an issue. But the bonus material (available on a second disc), was all the encouragement needed to purchase this "double disc" special edition, which provides the essential bonus material to an unmissable movie - 9/10!.
