Further update, after contacting Salewa directly regarding regarding the leaking boots, I got the following response:
‘Please take note that the waterproofing membrane is not produced by Salewa, therefore leakage problems are not always due to a manufacturing defect.
For further information on this, please contact the membrane manufacturer directly through the following link:’
I’m astounded that Salewa will not stand by the product quality and hide behind or blame materials manufactured by their suppliers! Having worn Meindl and Scarpa for many years and receiving fantastic customer support when needed I will be avoiding this manufacturer of ‘mountain footwear’ as clearly they do not value their customers.

These are the best hiking shoes I've had, completely waterproof, comfortable, grippy and they keep your foot and ankle very secure.
True to size, also I struggle with ankle injury and these basically enable me to hike, they keep joint secure, yet mobile enough to walk comfortable. They are not very flexible - but that's a feature, they are suitable for crampons.
Vibram sole is very grippy and number of times I was amazed how well it kept me on the track, in fact few times I expected to slip and they kept me upright!
Waterproof is complete, not just grass, but you can dunk them in the water and stay dry - I tested this not just in action but also in the bucket when cleaning shoes.
Blisterfree guarantee just works - there's not a single area which would rub or chuff, even when I lace very tight to keep my ankle safe.
Easy and secure, quick to lace and unlace, once again can't stress enough how secure ankle feels in these.
Despite this, the boot works well for scrambling in none winter conditions, mainly due to the stiff soles, but the lases also go down to your toes which is great for feeling more positive scrambling. The problem here is that there's a lot of build-up of the Goretex membrane at this site leading to water ingress if you're walking over boggy areas or wet grass.
