So the things I like about this shoe first after using them now for a few runs.
They are Very light. And they grip very well on certain surfaces. Mud - excellent. Loose dust/ stone - excellent. Wet grass - excellent. Good chunky lugs. Nice wide toe area so pretty stable too. So far the waterproofing is also good. Early days as I find with use Waterproof shoes seem to become less so.... Jury’s still out on this.
Now for where they let you down....
Size- they run very small. If you do buy go up at least one whole size. I’m usually a 10 and have never had to go up a whole size in any shoe before but definitely advise it here.
The misole, or rather what midsole? There is no discernible midsole in the toe area of this shoe. The images are misleading. The outside of the shoes wrap up over the upper giving the impression there’s a decent amount of shoe between you front foot and the ground. But there is not. Additionally there is almost no cushioning in this shoe. Even under the heel the compound is hard and unforgiving. If you like to feel of the jolt of hitting the ground while it slowly erodes every joint up to your hip - these are the shoes for you. I actually had to take the insole out to see if there was a midsole in the toe area.....Barely.
Grip in the wet on hard surfaces. Very poor. Even wet sloping tarmac!! The contagrip isn’t good on hard wet surfaces. I’ve had a pair of Mammut shoes which used the same outer sole where I found the same issue.
Gutted it took me a few trips out to establish these points otherwise they’d be going back. They’ve been demoted to dog walking shoes rather than trail running. I’ve really lost confidence in the brand regardless of the plethora of running shoe choices they offer....avoid this shoe would be my advice.
Great fit now. Soles are pretty hard, but they are trails shoes, so not too springy on the road.
Otherwise love 'em.
They are great on both tarmac and cross country.
Waterproofing is great, grip works well and they are comfortable on my runs
I have also found that I do not suffer from planter fasciitis when I run in this and I think this is due to their firmness.
I normally wear a 7 and 7.5 for running but in these I needed an 8 for running
Very comfortable, highly recommended.
