The boots are not mirror images and the top cleats point in different directions on the L and R boots.I reckon the team making the left hand boot is not as skilled.
They look great, but for me, too painful to wear. Other folk have had more success, so don't let me put you off trying them
as well as other types. And as i am no longer as active as i was while i served, these boots do the job very well.
They are a snug fit light and breathable they will do me for fishing and tabbing about a general purpose boot and at a good price well made and comfortable.
We used to use neets foot fish oil in the army, to soften up our combat high.....lol ....there is no need for that now no blisters that's another bonus.
First time buying Salomon and i will probably get another pair
Only issue is laces/upper lace hooks - the laces apoear super strong and less flexible than AVG laces. Consequently, no matter how rightly laced they come undone relatively quickly. Hiking across to worms head Gower peninsula I was only person stopping to tie laces - super annoying!
Laces get stuck in the top guides: size mismatch. Only 2 weeks old time will tell on longevity.
I got half a size up, as I will be wearing hiking socks with them. If you use normal socks, your usual size will be spot on.
Comfortable and snug fit with toe-room, and no slippage inside.
No real breaking in required.
I ordered these Quest Prime GTX as they were about €90 cheaper than the Quest 4, but looked almost identical. The main difference I found was I put them on out of the box (and keeping my old pair in the backpack incase I needed to swap) I went on a 20km mountain/rocky/boogy/grassy/muddy/gravely hike with absolutely no foot pain at all during or after. Extremely comfortable boot right away.
One minor a inconvenience was the toe part at the top on the inside felt like they had popped inwards, as if someone stepped on my toes. Wiggled my toes and it popped back up but happened a few times. I put this down to ordering 1 size larger which is definitely needed for a wide foot.
Overall great boot
