4k remaster delivers!

The brand new Arrow release is great.
The 4k remaster albeit at 1080p on blu ray is clean, with film grain retained. The night time scenes have been properly regraded with contrast ramped up a little to really show off the dark streets and stark headlights in the Paris based scenes. Daytime locations like Nice and Arle look really fresh and close shots on actors are pristine. The soundtrack also showcases great depth amongst the talkie and action scenes alike. Loved it.
The disc opens with the haunting Ronin theme played over a montage of clips and the whole package has been presented with an evident love for the film itself and the craft of the professionals who shot it, acted in it and directed it.
The booklet is a superb keepsake rounding off a brilliantly produced edition of a 90's classic.

Arrow's release blows the old blu-ray out of the water
Verified purchase
Arrow's new 4K master done for this release is just awesome. it blows the old blu-ray out of the water!
picture quality is (almost) perfect and it holds up amazingly beautiful on a bigger screen. the movie finally got the treatment it deserves. Rich in detail, nice natural grain pattern, almost perfect sharpness, strong colors and good black levels... thanks to Arrow!
I am not a 100% sure if the sound got a new mastering as well... to me it sounded better than the old one, but this can be just my imagination. The sound comes in 5.1 and 2.0 Master Audio.
Extras are plenty and interesting.

There is a site called caps-a-holic. check it out if you are not sure wether the picture quality is such an upgrade indeed and see for yourself!

Quality of the supposed HD picture on Prime for this film is below SD
Verified purchase
One of my favourite film. I sat down to watch it this week on Prime, but gave up after the opening scene in the bar. The quality of the picture was below that of the DVD. How can Amazon Prime stream a poor quality SD version instead of the HD versions available? I stopped the film and put on another Prime Stream of a similar era film and that was a good HD stream.
Why, why, why? It wasn’t my broadband stream, the other film I eventually watched was fine.
A really pity, a good film let down by Amazon Primd

Overrated and outdated

Not sure whether this film just doesn't stand the test of time or just wasn't very good in the first place.

It's corny and full of action film cliché and tired tropes including formulaic car chases complete with tunnel, spinning hub caps, and the mandatory exploding car at the end.

Some good acting from the bit parts, but not from the leads for the most part.

A wonderful release of a great underrated movie

Ronin is a fantastic movie with lots of action and a great plot. It is in my opinion one of the most underrated movies ever made. Everything about it is class A. This 4K Master Special Edition of Ronin is amazing. Picture quality is very nice and a few extras as well. I was waiting for this release for a while so I am really glad I got it. Wonderful movie and a wonderful release. Just get it.

Great action stuff, if you like that sort of thing.

Not the first time I have seen this film. It's totally mad but great action fun with a twist at the end which I didn't expect (well not the first time anyway!) Robert De Nero as a world weary ex-CIA agent and Natascha McElhone as an IRA terrorist and Jean Reno as an equally cynical "agent" of some description. Action sequences are really good. Somewhat gory at times but completely barmy and impossible but hey what the heck! Recommended for wet afternoon viewing. Intellectual? NO. Action fun? YES.

This is quite possibly the best heist movie ever made.

This genre has tough competition but with the cast and the fantastic car chase scenes, this is definitely one of the best. my favourite anyway!

Arrow continues to put it together!

I owned US blu-ray release of this movie and the PQ is just mediocre and almost bare bonus. Then Arrow came to the rescue and the PQ is just stunning this time with abundance of special features! I wish one day Arrow can start releasing their titles on 4K. Anyway the movie is a classic which needs no introduction and this release is must-own. Thank you Arrow and Amazon for the reasonable price. Hope more action classics get treatment like this.
