Original without the dressing
In this early crack of Kitchen Nightmares you see probably the most honest view of Gordon Ramsey & his management/business strategy. None of the over dramatised faux conflict & outrage we see in the US version. The owners aren't crazed loons who should never have gone into business but honest ppl trying their best but lacking the skills needed.

Fresh from his emergence as Britain's top chef Gordon is at his best here not yet distilled into presenter Gordon. Refreshingly here presenting is an after thought, some videos taken by Gordon just lying in his Travelodge bed commenting on the night. Rather it's all about food & advice. You also see his ruthlessness. His solution for many is to sack the chef as they are taking the p***. He is right about that but it's a conclusion he shys away from in later seasons. The insults aren't the solely mocking ones, they have bite & are there to make the chef's & staff raise standards or resign under the pressure.

Without a doubt this is much more genuine. Gordon is clearly committed 100% to trying to turn these restaurants around rather than the impression from the US version of it being a circus with deliberately larger than life acting (I do suspect they planted the dead rat in that famous US scene).

Documentary, food or business lovers will love this. Reality TV addicts expecting USA Kitchen Nightmares not so much.
