Ralph and Penelope brave the strange and wonderful world of the Internet to try and locate a rare part for a video game. Without it the game will be retired (junked). Can they locate the part and save the day or will exposure to the outside world change them both forever?

It took Disney six years to eventually give us a sequel to the quite wonderful surprise box office hit Wreck it Ralph and I for one am not sure it was actually worth the wait. The main reason the first film worked so very well is because of the lovely and frustratingly real relationship between our two leads. Both had a story arc worth watching, both had a history and both were able through adversity to prevail against evil King Candy. The supporting players like Fix it Felix Jr and others fleshed out the story and added real interest and the eventual outcome for both was very satisfying. Therefore the film was clever but not smug, it was fluffy but not silly and it had a heart that you could feel. The sequel while technically probably superior to the original in terms of animation, is none of these things and sadly feels like and exercise in printing money.

Although perfectly watchable in a kind of half hearted way, the breathless and noisy pace feels like an attempt to get you to the end of the film before you realise the story is pants. The lovely friendship between Penelope and Ralph is dropped and Penelope turns out to be something of a fair weather friend when someone “cooler” turns her head. Forgetting completely that her entire existence is down to Ralph's selfless bravery was rather distasteful and her thoughtless and selfish attitude to Ralph being upset about being dumped was I suppose “girl power or empowering” even if it did hurt his feelings. And so with the friendship dumped we end up with a case of the standard Hollywood play-book fall back of “we must get this, so we can get that and then we can do that”. Like I said it's all rather breathless and noisy and the charm so infused in the original is missing entirely replaced as it is with a rather harsh lesson in sexual politics for poor old Ralph, “don't be so clingy, even if you did save my life”. Even my eight year old thought is wasn't as good as the first one and has tellingly never asked to see it again, however he watches the original often.

I was so hoping that the long awaited sequel would have at least some of the originals lovely magic, but it was not to be. It's just a fairly entertaining if unremarkable action adventure with the magic expertly removed prior to release. It's not all bad, the CGI animation is first class as you would expect, the slender story whips along at quite a pace, it's certainly clever (lots and lots of internet jokes) in a rather smug way, and it's bright and colourful, but you can say that about almost any half decent animated film designed primarily for kids these days. It's the actual story of the characters that keeps you watching and in the first film I really cared about Ralph and Penelope and their story and in this I just didn't.

If this had been thrown out 18 months after the original I could understand, but to take six years to create this creative turkey is really disappointing. However saying that, this turkey took $520 million at the box office so we can probably look forward to episode three in a couple of years. Lets hope they come up with a decent story this time?

Shame amazon don't offer an option to download the 4K title

The film itself is good, it's just a shame that Amazon don't offer a way to download the 4K title. Unfortunately our internet service is too slow to handle streaming of 4K movies and as Amazon won't download it to Xbox One S or PS4 Pro for playback in 4K (only onto a phone - which is useless - my phone doesn't have a 4K screen - and even if it did I wouldn't want to watch an entire film in 4K on my phone). You'd think that seeing as you've purchased the movie amazon would give you the option to download it in the same way if you'd bought the 4K UHD disc you'd get the option to own the actual copy. Next time I want a 4K film I'll buy it on disc rather than streaming as at least I'll be able to watch it in the format purchased - the film is good but I've only given it three stars due to the way it's distributed.

After loving the first one I had high hopes for the sequel.

Unfortunately it doesn't have the heart and story like the first.

Just an advert for big Internet companies like eBay, Amazon, Google etc.

Very disappointed, but my son who doesn't really understand all of the commercial c**p likes it.

Not as good as the first movie and missed a lot of opportunities to engage in meta narrative, but it was kind of enjoyable.
My 10 year old loved it .....could have been so much better tho

So often sequels are a massive let-down. Not the case with Ralph Breaks the Internet.

All the characters from the original movie are back, but all but Ralph and Vanelope play bit-part roles. There's a host of new characters, but the focus is on the friendship between the two, the incursion of the internet, and how they affect the classic games of the arcade.

Spoiler-free version - there's some fantastic Disney cameos, and some jokes for children of all ages (1-100!). Would heartily recommend - anyone who doesn't enjoy this film isn't welcome to our family movie nights!!

Generally it is a really funny film with some clever concepts, great new characters and a good plot. Did not match up to the first one but an okay watch. The only downside was they made Ralph's character a bit...dark...and used concepts that were verging on too mature for a young audience. The kids are only young yet they picked up on it and said that "Ralph was mean and clingy". They didn't seem interested in ever watching the film again ( unlike they did with the first film)

Funny family movie everyone will enjoy. Not quite as original as the first movie as expected but excellent nevertheless. UHD HDR Amazon Prime version is about as crisp and bright as you could hope for.

It was nice to hear a follow up was on the way, after the first film you fell in love with all the characters so it was a done deal to watch the follow up.

It starts well and it is great fun pointing out on the logo's you know but it starts steering off and you find yourself wondering where the storyline is going.
