Highly entertaining

I started to watch this film shortly after it left the cinemas on DVD but only got about 20-30 minutes into it and never saw the rest.
I had completely forgotten about this movie and when searching for other movies to watch with my prime membership it appeared but I still didn't recognise it but added it to my watchlist.
I got about 10 or so minutes into it and thought to myself, oh no I have seen this and nearly quit to find something else instead, however, I continued to watch and realised that it was just the beginning that I remembered so I stuck with it, so I glad I did as it's a great movie.
I do not want to put any spoilers in this review but I will just say that considering how old it actually is 2009 and we are in 2019 it has all the great special effects/CGI and pretty much holds it's own when compared to more recent movies within the same genre.
It is a well thought out and smart story with great action sequences a good cast and very well executed, keeps you gripped and nothing is given away right until the end, that is how a film should be. It is very easy with newer movies to pretty much guess the outcome very early on because of the storyline being predictable so this makes a nice change.
If you are looking for something very entertaining and want to escape from reality for a couple of hours then this is a movie I would recommend.....enjoy!

Very interesting: Using psychics as weapons
Verified purchase
Very unusual "psychics as weapons" storyline where those with natural abilities are sort out for experiments with an enhansing drug that keeps failing.
Its a great idea and well researched though the storyline and editing is a little confusing. I'm left not knowing who's the new character as they are introduced.
Acting is top notch. Effects good. Photography really assists the drive of the story. But the choice of music and its placement is jarring and gets in the way.
Thr documentary in the bonus section is an intertesting source for research.

I also didnt realise I was getting the French version of the film. This meant that not only I had to seek out the original dialogue track but the subtitles were in French for the non-English languages throughout the film. These couldnt be switched off.

Meh, it's OK

Clearly created to be a teen franchise, and starring several teen actors, this is a decent way to spent 90 minutes of your time.

It kinda lacks originality in that it's kids with special powers being pursued by a murky government entity. And the plot stalls a bit in places, with a fairly weak initial setup. There are plot holes a-plenty, and so many questions arise if you even think for a second. So, it's a good idea to turn your mind off.

A great movie is more than the sum of its parts yet this is just the sum of its parts. But lots of those parts are pretty good. Setting the movie in Hong Kong was a curious move (maybe to do with Chinese financiers for the movie?) but it makes for a fun backdrop. I always think setting a movie in an unusual or exotic location is almost like going on vacation while you're watching the movie. The Bourne movies did this pretty well.

Bored me early on

Known good actors with a poor, unconvincing and rather pointless story line. Little 'human relationship'. Many of us already know that the military etc have used people with psychic powers for generations, so nothing new there. But sadly, this subject was given the tired and worn out old 'gung ho' 'USA' action movie treatment, that the weak 'super hero' films have routinely had in recent years... All over-acted 'action' and little substance... The many variations of supposed 'psychic' powers was also over made complex and felt hugely unconvincing. Couldn't finish it.

Trying to be Heroes...... but fails.
Verified purchase
I am a fan of Dakota Fanning and was more than pleased to see this film come up on Prime. Immediately saw the similarities between this and Heroes. Quite a promising start, then the pacing of the film just became slower and slower and seemed to totally lose its direction. I almost gave up but then a spark of life towards the end..... that fizzled into a very poorly written and unsatisfactory ending. The writers had a good beginning and a lacklustre ending and failed to tie the whole together with a meandering middle that was neither well paced, interesting or well thought out.

Enjoyable but perplexing sci-fi thriller, Oh and Chris Evans!

The movie was produced around the come up of superhero movies in mainstream media and the technological advancements with CGI and animation so on. The concept is good I love the fact it was set somewhere else other than the west however the storytelling is choppy and could use some work. For example, why are the psychics in Hong Kong? is it because it's harder for the west to reach them and what is the significance of them all being there. It would've added a lot more context and richness to the plot had they explored this. The plot does take the viewer on a journey and is action-packed however that's as far as it goes and the story does get a bit confusing throughout the movie however if you're on the more open-minded spectrum you may enjoy this movie. I have a soft spot for it as it makes me nostalgic for my childhood where almost every movie seemed good! ahaa

Clever storyline
Verified purchase
I like this film which is a surprise because there are so many akin but they are very same old same old but not Push. Well made film, well presented cast, its a bit rushed so you don't get real depth to the storyline. It was clearly made with a sequel in mind which is unfortunate as there isn't a sequel. The story carries you along but then stops and you aren't left with much to go on.
It's well worth a watch but I wouldn't pay for it.

Bloody awful

Pretty much unwatchable. The director obviously got their start directing music videos, because this the oversaturated colour palette and choppy cuts would look more at place in one. At no point did I care if any of the characters lived or died, there is zero development or reason to care about any of them. Do not waste your time, I cannot find any reason to recommend this apart from maybe if you're a budding film maker who needs a confidence boost, because if trash like this can get commissioned then there is hope for anyone.
