Maggie Q is not a bad actress. But in all honesty what bloke would be afraid of her. Every time she has a pair of boots on they have to have heels as I doubt that she is even 5ft or even weighs 8 stone wet. When the baddies were doing water torture on the lady she was shorter than the table they put on I had to chuckle and the flaying legs. These guys look like the side of a cow am I really meant to believe that she can take them down so easily. I am a girl and have no problem with women doing action scenes or fight scenes but she looks wrong in this. Also, Michael Keaton is a love interest really?. Not even an hour in I had to pass, as every single cliché comes flying at you. There is no originality at all in this movie.

Truly Terrible
Verified purchase
This is a modern US action film and so we could expect a meaningless and idiot storyline, stereotyped characters, awful dialogue. This film has all of these and more. So much more. It is difficult to imagine how any screenwriter could have signed off on the script for this waste of everyone's time. Not even the top drawer actors can save this film from being so entirely forgettable that I am pleased to say I have almost forgotten all of it... except only for the fact that there are more producers of this film than cast members... seriously! Please do yourself a favour and ignore this truly terrible film.

What happens in Vietnam, stays in Vietnam.

Excellent acting, a suspensful score, tried and tested lighting and effects are once again coupled with a nonsensical plot, bad dialogue, and some questionable editing to bring you yet another dumb action movie.

I mean let's face it, you're either watching this for the gratuitous violence and ignoring the plotholes, or you needed some background noise because the neighbors are shouting again. I was doing both.

**Mild spoilers**

A hitwoman raised by a hitman is targeted after hitmen kill the hitman who raised her, and she subsequently journeys to Vietnam to discover their motives. There she meets a side character who has no relevance to the story, and finds out that more hitmen are lying in wait and hit her hit before she can hit him herself.

Captured by some sort of nameless cartel and with no hope of escape, she easily escapes and is pursued by a hitman. Instead of killing her, her enemies decide to chill and walk around dimly lit rooms for the middle part of the film as she tours the local Chritsian hospital of Exposition, where she finds out nothing useful but fills up the necessary runtime.

Vowing to seek revenge for the death of her hitman godfather again, the hitwoman is hit by another hitman, who is hit by the hitgodfather who wasn't hit after all but had in fact hit the hitmen who the hitwoman thought had hit him, and had been quietly doing nothing the whole time since. Together they arrange for the ultimate hit where they will hit the hitmens' head man and hit the head man's hitmen in the process, however the arrival of an unexpected hitman leads to a thrilling climax where the only way to hit a hitman is for the hitman's hitman to hit himself.

If you're not invested in the film from this synopsis, then I can assure you that the production quality is good enough to make you unaware of all but the worst errors.

Three stars because I watched it to the end.

A Tiny Bit of Escapism
Verified purchase
First movie watched in 2022, and it's not too bad, yes it's been done before, the implausible scenarios, the ludicrous supporting characters, the clichés, the corny one liners, the choreographed fight scenes, but does any of that really matter?

This is purely a tiny bit of escapism from what will no doubt be yet another year of pandemic variants and inevitable restrictions, so if you can manage to leave negativity where it belongs for a couple of hours, you'll more than likely enjoy this one.

Fantastic film

And this is how an action film should be made, absolutely brilliant the action and the acting is top notch brilliant performances all round. This is probably the best action film with a great story line I've seen in ages, it knocks the spots of Black Widow hands down and I thought that was a pretty good film. Well worth a watch.

Great movie!

I enjoyed it quite a lot. The last 15mn were a little disappointing hence the loss of one star but overall the movie was quite good and I loved the fight sequences. I found Maggie Q to be great in her role and I just read that she filmed this right after having gone under spine surgery whilst she did 98% of her stunts. Kudos to her! I found the casting choice to be convincing and good too.

Don't know what people are complaining about, you don't watch this movie (or The Transporter, Expendables etc ... ) and expect an Oscar-winner potential. This movie is great at what It's supposed to be: an action film to enjoy.

3 very good actors couldn't save the film

The film started off like it was building into something interesting. A child hiding in a cupboard in a room in Vietnam, apparently having shot several men, is rescued by Samuel L Jackson's character... What happened? Where are her family? What was Samuel L Jackson's character doing there? Etc

We next see them several years later. The child is now an adult played by Maggie Q. The first thing we see them do is okay - fine for an everyday action film.

It's downhill from there though. Very fast. Maggie Q's fight scenes, especially with Michael Keaton look extra staged and a bit slow at times. The clichés in this abound. I found myself saying "oh please!" at points.

Samuel L Jackson can definitely deliver a monologue but I was rolling my eyes as his final speech went on and on as it was poorly written and nonsensical.

I wish I could give minus stars that would some how also give me back the time wasted watching this.

I like all 3 actors mentioned here... But even they couldn't carry this film. 🗑️
