Horrible is every sense - Epic in how rubbish it is

There's quite a few things about this movie I regret, the main three are
1. Paying for it
2. The fact it was made at all
3. Watching it to half way through
Whoever conceived the idea of trying to make this a comedy was so far off the mark it's unbelievable. I'm so disappointed it's unbelievable. This movie is worst than I could have imagined and to think we have one of the best movies of all time as a forerunner. This is a disgrace to the Predator franchise, there is no film as bad as this. It's like some imbecile tried to cross a wacky kids cartoon with a Predator movie.
To sum up, think of making a Predator movie bad and then adding steroids to how bad it could be and then you're no where near the garbage that got conjured up.
The people who made this should be congratulated for effectively making the Predator franchise a joke. To be honest how a group of people could have given this the go ahead is once again beyond belief.
This movie isn't worth one star, not anything.

A fun, violent, witty film
There have been a lot of negative reviews about this film already (at the time of writing this it's not even been a week). I think this film is suffering from the same kind of problems that Star Wars films have. The fans are watching something new through rose tinted glasses that make their memories of what came before better then they are. Yes, the original is a cult classic, the sequel was a barely held together mess and the one starring Adrien Brody is...meh, ok.

This however is an entirely different creature. Seeing Shane Black return to this after his brief role in the original (and minor script doctor) is something quite exciting. I went to see this film because I do love the original and I really enjoy Shane Black films (I mean who doesn't love Kiss Kiss, Bang, Bang).
The plot is pretty familiar territory, Predators come to Earth, human prey, etc. However, the government is now aware of this (and has been for many years) and has research teams doing what they can, with what they find to research the growing threat. Boyd Holbrook plays an Army Sniper who witnesses the crash of a spacecraft and becomes a person of interest to the government and to the Predator. Along the way he meets a ragtag group of army guys and marines who have a few psychiatric problems and everything starts unfolding after that.

I don't want to give the entire plot away in a review but this film is something that sometimes it's OK for films to be. It's FUN! Yes, there is a lot of swearing and violence and all that. That's probably why it's an 18. The dialogue and the interaction between the character is classic Shane Black writing. The characters are cool, it has some brilliant throwbacks to what came before and again... it is FUN!

There are a few issues with editing where things seem to jump around a lot but it really is a minor complaint in what I found to be an outstanding feature.

If you go into this expecting it to be a carbon copy of the original. you will be disappointed. If you go in, keep an open mind and just might just enjoy it.

The Goonies meets the Predator - with a Disney sound track
Verified purchase
What on Earth is going on here? How to ruin a legacy of good sci-fi horror with Harry Potter stylee ‘giant’ predators and a sound track from the sound of music! Zero suspense...humour?...really?
Another example of modern films being made by kids out of college who rely too much on special effects to try and compensate for poor story telling skill.

How can a Predator film be this bad?
Verified purchase
I was really excited when i saw this was available as ive always loved the predator films & the predator as a character, I missed it in the cinema so when i saw it here i bought it straight away however I found it pretty dissapointing.
I really dont understand what they were trying to do with this film, its really boring for a film like this (how could a predator film be this bad?) the story is confusing and I genuinely wish I hadn't bought it.
For me it's definitely the worst of the predator series I've seen and quite possibly the worst film I've ever bought here.
Up to you but I wouldn't recommend getting this as there are better choices for your money & if you really must get it then just rent it! Lol.

Exactly what lots hoped for, more details more lore more story
Verified purchase
Exactly what I was hoping for. More about predator technology and the predators themselves, basically more LORE. And boy, oh boy oh boy did it deliver. It wasn't a very straight narrow plot, (at this point I want to say I enjoyed the previous predator films, but felt they were just copying each other each film in really, except when the government started trying to hunt one, in one film) it had a diverse plot with lots of twists in it, like a quarter way through the movie I thought it was nearly the end, but nope that was just a subplot! Definitely not predictable!

Also if, like me, you love lore and fictional universes, then this is a must. It has more predator tech, more lore more story more depth to the predators than all the others. There's even information about their home planet and the politics going on back there! THIS is EXACTLY what the predator franchise needed to become. It can't keep repeating the first one and this certainly didn't. I'm not going to spoil it, but judging from the ending, the next one is hopefully going to be extremely unique and extremely interesting.

the editing is shocking
Verified purchase
I haven't seen a film so poorly edited in years.
The second half is almost incomprehensible. It is similar to when you keep falling asleep in a film and miss bits of the plot leaving you confused as to why something is happening. It is really, really bad.

I really had high hopes for this , just watched it and I have to agree with a lot of people that it was kind of lame, what on earth was them special effects all about , some of them was laughable, it's not even in same league as the 1st movie, £10 down the drain 👎

Predator 3 in my books

I'm a huge fan of the original 2 movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger / Danny Glover and have been waiting for this movie for so long to continue the franchise.

I can't say it's better than the original movies but it comes close. A good mixture of comedy, suspense and action.

The only thing that could have made it better would be a gratuitous cameo from Arnold and Danny.
