Not bad. Has its moments. Love watching the rabbits. Not as charming as 'PR1'.

SUMMARY: Watched it on my own and I enjoyed it more than I expected after reading reviews. Not as good as the first film, as much of the novelty and charm have given way to a faster-paced and at times a darker plot. It's a rather weird plot, inconsistent in tone, and some characters behave implausibly.

Do watch it, you know you want to, but may I suggest you watch with an open mind and just let it carry you. Don't let yourself get bogged down in "I didn't like that bit therefore I refuse to like the whole film". Certainly there are enjoyable moments. The seamless CGI depiction of Peter and his rabbit family is a constant visual joy. One or two other famous Potter animal characters are introduced.

Suggest hiring it from Amazon. It's not a dreadful film, but you'd probably not rush to watch it again.

Viewers tend to like coherence and consistency, but 'PR2' feels a mish-mash of variety for its own sake and that can feel unsettling. There are repeats of jokes from 'PR1' to try and anchor you, but the tone of 'PR2' is a bit darker.

Re the mish-mash: There are cute scenes. There's satire of marketing execs; one scene feels too tightly paced, too exaggerated and too bullying to be plausible. At times main characters act implausibly and/or out of character e.g. Bea. There are questionable violent moments, but it's no different from family films like 'The Incredibles'; even 'Paddington 2' includes murder and attempted murder. One or two adult-jokes are unnecessary for a family film.

Often the busy activity moves too fast, making you wish for intervals of relative calm and slower pacing. It's a film on a jelly-bean high (mild spoiler reference), like 'Doctor Who' New Series with frenetic pace and rapid dialogue delivery.

All too few moments of nuanced facial expressions, Peter's rabbit face particularly - these are what helped give 'PR1' its charm.

What the film's about often seems muddled or obscured by busyness. I personally gleaned the themes of 'family' and 'trust'. These are, I bet, what sold 'PR2' to the studio bosses seeking a family film with acceptable moral takeaways. 'Family' and 'trust' are highlighted by a rarity in this film, that of only two characters in a scene - with Peter and McGregor simply talking to each other near the end. (Films would be very short if characters resolved their issues in the first scene!)

Please don’t waste your money, very unlike the first film and quite depressing

Goodness where to start.
I could accept James Cordens voice for Peter Rabbit in the first film, and it was a good film, set around Windermere, with noticeable town shots, which was lovely.
This one cast loveable Tom Kitten, that imp in a blue velvet coat, as a gangster accented alley cat.
And it just gets worse from there.
It was difficult to follow, and this was our movie night purchase for all the family ranging from 8, to a lot older.
I just hated it really, and it wasn’t a suitable sequel for the first film.
Poor Beatrix Potter, this wasn’t a positive advance on her stories it was quite dreadful

2 1/2 stars=Meh. Trying to capitalise on the first one and failing

Kids loved the first film, they started to get bored with this one.
A couple of times the Peter (Jame Corden) made reference to his voice being annoying. More confirmation than joke I think.
If you can rent it cheaply go ahead, but don’t pay £14 like we did to buy it as it was the only option.

Great film for the summer holidays

Both of my kids are big Peter Rabbit fans. So decided to purchase the film for a cinema evening with both of them. They loved the film and will sit down and watch the from start to finish. As a film I would say its not as good as the first, I felt Peter had more of James Corden mannerisms that spoiled it a little bit for me but the kids didn't notice. Overall a very good purchase as the kids have watched the first and second film for most of the holidays.

We purchased this film for family viewing night. It was an enjoyable way to spend the evening. Good price and value for money.

Part two of the Peter rabbit story. Now that the humans are married the next adventure unfolds as Peter gets to meet a rabbit who claims to have been friends with his father, but is that somebody a friend or foe?

The film was especially enjoyed by the younger members of the family.

Well worth the wait..

Usually with the second time round, films start to struggle for ideas to keep up with the original.
But, this film carries it of to a T, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, well worth the wait to see it.
Hope they do more in this line and keep up the great work we have seen so far.
Excellent movies, highly recommended, will be watching both again.....
But for now, waiting on Peter Rabbit 3....

Great sequel
Verified purchase
This is a great sequel to the first film - I don't think it was quite as good or as funny as the original but still a very enjoyable film and keeps to the classic story book characters well. It was nice to see a little bit more of some of the other characters like Jeremy Fisher and Jemima Puddle duck but they didn't have very big parts. We are looking forward to Peter Rabbit 3 now.

Good quality family film, very funny

Watched the first film and my daughter was waiting ages to see this but due to Covid we never got to see it in the cinema.
Absolutely loved it, some laugh out loud moments in this film had us in stitches.
Great comedy definitely has jokes for the whole family and those cliche references to things adults will remember from their childhood really make this film a good watch.

Would definitely recommend
