Meh for the price

I originally bought a different Monty Duffle coat from the other BIG duffle coat manufacturer in a sale but although it was really lovely the Large was very baggy on me as it was an original cut oversize fit so had to return it, unfortunately they didn't have a Medium to exchange.
I saw that Amazon were stocking Duffles by The Original Montgomery company with an extra 20% off the sale price so took a punt on a Large for £191, this was only for the version with the leather and buffalo horn toggles unfortunately because I'd prefer the wooden ones.
The Large is a much better fit allowing for a thick jumper underneath if needed without looking too loose. Size wise I'm just over 6ft 1", a 43" chest with a dad bod tummy, 14st and a bit.
It doesn't have the zip closure as per the description, I'm not that bothered about that although someone else might be and the extra throat closure tab that's supposed to keep out those bitter winter winds is too small to fasten up.
I was disappointed in the packaging, the cardboard box was damp and the coat was just screwed up inside another plastic bag with only one half of a broken coat hanger, nice. No idea where the other half is... I'm assuming it's a return I've been sent and for the money I'd expect something at least packaged better.
All in all its an ok coat and although it's still not cheap at £191.

A comfortable and practical overcoat

Although not cheap, I am really pleased with this duffle coat. I was relieved to find that it is a good fit, as I am 6ft tall, with long arms (which are usually a problem to fit). I ordered the long size, and was a bit worried that the Amazon order site didn't offer a 'size' choice (S,M,L,XL etc) but the 'long' version is fine with my 40 inch chest. Roomy but not too baggy. If I was going to be critical, I would have expected the stitch lines to be done a bit better (the seam stitching was not done perfectly straight) for the price, but overall I am very pleased with the item. It is warm and comfortable to wear, and looks good.

I bought it for my son and he loves it. He is 1.87 and weighs 74 kilos. I got a size 38 and it is slightly large for him, but this is not a problem because this way it can be worn over thicker pullovers. I write this review to let other people know about the size, because I remember myself reading all the reviews again and again trying to decide on the perfect size for him!

Really well made coat. If you want a long over coat for winter then this is perfect. I gave it four stars because the sizing is very confusing and I had to change it three times even after measuring existing coats. Plus you can't really wear the hood up, it looks ridiculous, makes you look like a kkk member... It's also started to bobble on the inside of the sleeves where they rub but this seems to happen on all duffel coats and it's not too bad here, the material seems to be high quality and I have worn it daily throughout half of the winter months. I'd still recommend it however, just be very careful when choosing a size.

Having measured myself I ordered a 38'' coat which quickly arrived. The coat was just fine but just a tad too tight. I returned it (freepost) immediately and shortly after took delivery of a 40'' coat which is perfect. I am impressed with the coat and even more impressed by the no-quibble service offered. It is advertised as full length. Actually it is knee length. What used to be classed as a car coat back when we had full length (down to the middle/lower calf) coats as the norm.
