Good old fashioned film noire
Verified purchase
It started like a cheap thriller but really ratcheted up about half way through. There were several homages to classic films noires, including the music which was straight from the fifties in a good way, with evocations of Gary Cooper, Burt Lancaster and Edward G Robinson. Full of Catholic guilt, angst and painful redemption. Very enjoyable.

Floating text on my screen

Why have I got floating text on my screen, is this a new thing with Amazon Prime?

As for this film, utter boredom, officer gets shot, no reaction from police, should be a hundred officers rushing to the scene, nada, then a second officer is shot and killed, again nada...enough said, am not even going to bother finish watching this.

A twisty piece made even more confusing by the generous use of flashbacks and a neat piece of misdirection for which one's prejudices are responsible. Keep your wits about you, and yes, you should have remembered that key scene.

Dire, from beginning to .... well, wherever I stopped watching. I stopped watching because I just didn't care what happened, the characters were all so limp and one-dimensional. Honestly, I could be a better undercover cop than this guy.

Really good story but could have done with better direction

Great story - not a usual thriller because you can't anticiapte the twists and turns! But acting is terrible like in any B movie, with the exception of James Wood as police captain of couse, and the music (muzak) is terrible as well. Still, something to watch.

Insomniac cure

Boring film with the flash backs just becoming very confusing, lots of characters who filtered in and out of the film and you cared nothing for them, quite a morally corrupt finish as well. Obviously the better known actors slept through their roles, always enjoy seeing James Woods getting pissed off, I wouldn't have liked to have been his agent after this came out

Corruption and redemption
Verified purchase
An average thriller with a twist which we did not see coming. The setting is a refreshing change - Bridgeport, Connecticut, but the problems are the same - girls being forced into sex, corrupt cops, gun violence, foreign (?Russian) baddies at the centre of all.
The first part is full of flashbacks - in black and white except for a red car - very significant - but annoying. The lead character - Callaghan - is on screen for most of the time as he battles with his past, his inadequacies, the plot. Any David Boreanaz fans buying this shouldn't blink - you might miss him ! Altogether same old, same old.
