Keeps you watching

The Amazon description is a fair summary of a very watchable movie. As with many movies on Prime,it works like a TV movie where the the baddies are all bad and the goodies mostly good except they can't contain their lust. So no real nuances and nothing different about a tale of infidelity which you will have seen many times before, only the faces and locations are different. Having said that it is well worth a watch, a movie with good pace, acting and direction - - - and the faces and locations are attractive too. There is a little nudity but tastefully done and not gratuitous

Much better than expected

Looking to kill an hour amazon's algorithms threw "Obsession" my way. I'm glad it did: it was far better than I had expected. Pierre Boulanger and Loes Haverkort both put in workmanlike jobs, with beautiful drone camera footage of
the gorgeous rural French farmhouse setting. It's not earth shaking, but it's nicely done and if you liked Peter Mayle's "A Year in Provence" or Ridley Scott's "A Good Year" with Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard doing a slightly starrier riff on this theme, the you'll like this. I may even watch it again!

Paint by numbers

Pretty standard affair (excuse the pun) where bored Dutch housewife with no morals and determined yet slightly stupid Dutch husband inherit their dream home in France. The French are stereotypically aloof and nothing much happens except the husband gets more stupid and the wife loses her morals more. Don't expect anything amazing at the end, it's just a bit silly.

Dutch Wife's Fatal Attraction
Verified purchase
The Title in English doesn't do this film justice its well shot and well acted. Subtitles are a bit distracting. A believable plot unwinds as a Dutch family move to France and try to make a new life by renovating a rambling old house in several acres. They find a fellow countryman who seems eager to help. he seems like a godsend able to deal with locals and is fluent in French but a convoluted plot unwinds of seduction and blackmail ending in an unforeseen violent death...

Pedestrian and underwhelming

(1.5 stars) Utterly pedestrian and underwhelming. Completely by-the-numbers in all respects. Not entertaining at all. Nice to look at, with a pretty location, but that's pretty much all it has going for it.

Great premis, weak ending

Very enjoyable. Nicely shot, plenty of subtle passion and a believable and compelling storyline. The unseen connection between the lover and the bad guy set up what could have been a stunning finale, but it took a wrong turn and left me feeling uncomfortable. Pity. Still worth a watch, if only for the gorgeous Ms Haverkort.
