Brilliant - if you like excellent acting and high concept thrillers with real meaning...
Amazon production team - if you are reading this, please make more things like Night Sky. Believe me, the people who care about quality and depth, and top class acting, really will engage with this. Let's get season 2 rolling.

Acting - 10/10
Overall narrative and plot - 9/10
Engagement level - 9/10
Overall enjoyment - 10/10

This was a very intelligent high concept drama, that touched several major themes and navigated the tired world of 'Sci-Fi' with great skill, delivering a gripping narrative with true emotional depth, with Oscar-quality acting.

Understandably, some people would rather eat microwaved slop with ketchup that is easy to chew on and digest - but there is plenty of that in the world already. About time Amazon and the other streaming services started to make great TV shows again. I'd rather watch one Night Sky than a dozen other shows the studios are churning out each month.

Remember Amazon team: quality counts - and is what will be remembered (and make people keep subscriptions). Please - more like this.

A quality SciFi series for once
This is what you get with high production values, quality acting and a great script. The acting is brilliant both from the older, more established actors and the new faces. The script holds your attention and gives you an ending that is both satisfying and intriguing. The only thing I found annoying is when the Latina characters had long dialogues in Spanish (which they speak very quickly) and I had to put subtitles on and then turn them off again. I get this is 'in character' but this is an English film for English-speaking audiences and I think long dialogues in Spanish are annoying. But other than that this is a a great series and can't wait for the next one. It's also very refreshing to see parts for older actors - I'm really tired of shows where there's no-one over the age of 25. It's quite patronising that we're told younger audiences need shows where you've eradicated all the older people. I'd like to see more shows with people - but especially women - over 50. Highly recommend this.

Perfect for syfi lovers, not to be missed.
Perfect if you like syfi and thrillers. Such a great story and fantastic acting by all the cast, and what a great cast.
Anyone who hasn't liked this is either not into syfi, or really has no idea of great quality TV, or actually didn't even watch the whole series, it is totally brilliant.
I really loved this, and totally binged it in 2 days! can't wait for the 2nd series.
Please, please, please renew.

Excellent and unique sci-fi, a story about older people
Irene (Sissy Spacek) and Franklin (J.K.Simmons) are an older couple who are barely managing. But they have a secret, a portal, from which they can see deep into space. The slow pace of their life is captured by the slow pace of the first episode, which will likely put off some viewers expecting a fast-paced sci-fi. But even these viewers will appreciate the acting, particularly that of Sissy Spacek Definitely a worthwhile movie!

Not all reviewers watched all episodes
Very clearly from what some people are writing here they didn't watch the full 8 episodes, or they weren't paying attention. This was amazing, first thing I did was google to find out if there's a second season. Yes it's slow paced, yes it's about normal people.........and? I will be watching for a season 2 with baited breath, I want to know more about the discovery at the end. Yes there will be a season 2 this has been very well received and they set up a season 2 in the first season. "It's shot at night" they say, guess what, it's called The Night Sky, still, it's definitely not all at night, that person only watched the first episode for sure. Actors were amazing, just as you'd expect from this cast.

Well acted but story slow and doesnt really go anywhere
If you want to watch a show about an elderly couple in their twilight years, that has a hint of mystery thrown in but never really given any depth or explaination, this is for you.

Story doesnt really go anywhere, just in circles, youll spend most the 8 shows wondering whats actually going on, theres no real story arc, no background, its more just a tale of two people in their last few years who happen to have a son that died/disappeared (but it doesnt really explain or go anywhere with that either). If you changed the underground portal to another planet to day trips to florida, it wouldnt change much....for a sci fi, it seems to ignore most of the sci fi...

Go To Bed
If you’re reading this then you’re like the vast majority of Night Sky viewers and you only made it through around 43mins of the first episode and came here looking for reasons why a really boring show featuring an old couple mumbling mostly in the dark about geriatric problems gets an average 7/10 score.

Firstly, don’t feel guilty that you didn’t get it because you’re not intelligent or worldly enough (there’s nothing to get). Secondly, don’t feel that if you just had the patience to endure all 8 (8?!!! Really?!!!) episodes you might have enjoyed it (you wouldn’t).

When the best thing fans (employees?) of the show can say is “Great performance from the lead actors” then you know the writing’s dross. If old people muttering to each other about death is your thing you can find equal or even better performances down your local retirement home.

Less sci-fi and more bye bye.

Too dark
This could be quite good if it weren’t filmed mostly at night, with very little lighting. I know electricity prices have gone up, but this is ridiculous! I could hardly make out what I was watching most of the time. Definitely not watcher friendly.
