'KIN GOOD FILM.

I've always thought Patrick Swayze was a very underrated actor. He made some great films, Road House, Point Break and the masterpiece that is Ghost. Actually, Point Break is in my opinion one of the best action films ever. And do you remember Black Dog from the late 90s? Check it out, it's a really good old school action road movie. So why did Swayze have a relatively short lived high Hollywood status? I have no idea and do not care about that sort of crap. He was a fantastic actor and had made some of my favourite films which are as enjoyable today as they were then.

I had never seen Next Of Kin back in the late 80s so when I was thinking of a new film to watch I ordered it on Blu-ray. I've always wanted to see it but it just slipped my mind I guess. Swayze plays a Chicago, G hillbilly cop (Gates) who's brother (Bill Paxton) is gunned down by a local Italian mob to take over a business. Gates takes the body back to the hills where his family still remain, living the hillbilly life style. There he reconnects with his other brother play played by Liam Neeson. They fall out, have different opinions on what should be done for retribution.

Gates returns to the city to lawfully make some enquiries but Neeson has other ideas to take out the trash in his own way.

This film is pure 80s with loads of clichés but Swayze puts in a solid performance as always. Neeson is excellent and even had a really convincing southern accent. Both actors work well together and are believable as siblings. The Italian mob are comical, just trying to do impressions of stereotypical Italian/American gangster's. But overall it's a solid story with good acting from the leads. And the Blu-ray transfer is superb.

Right, I now will start watching Swayzes last role in a TV series called The Beast which he made while diagnosed with cancer. Very sad to have lost such a great actor so early on because I genuinely believe he had not reached his acting peak.

Good film

The films good but you need to reconsider your pricing this film is old so you shouldn’t have to pay for them same as series. Bit of a con when you have to pay for prime monthly anyway

A fun, entertaining, revenge romp
Verified purchase
Not a masterpiece of cinema, by any means, but this film is entertaining nonetheless.

Sporting a number of great actors hamming it up a bit, like Patrick Swayze, Liam Neeson, Andreas Katsulas, Helen Hunt, Adam Baldwin, and a young Ben Stiller, this film is a fun film about vengeance, family, and why you should never annoy a redneck
