Still a good shoe.. There is something off on the way it fells from the old one. I am a great fan of this shoe. Got one in black and one in white. Same make and model for 12 years and I seek them out when new ones are needed. There feels to be less padding in the heel. You can feel it after awhile. The old ones were like standing on a soft yet firm bath mat. I will still seek them out in the coming years. It's still a good shoe not a great shoe.

Upper toe material makes a popping sound with each step

Have bought this model previously with no problem but after wearing this pair for 7 months, every time I take a step and the right shoe's toe section flexes, the material makes a "popping" sound that is clearly audible (and annoyingly embarrassing). I had hoped that after wearing it for a while the sound would disappear as the upper toe material developed some "give" but that has not occurred, nor by this time is it likely to. Disappointing.

"New Balance" is one of the few brands that offer multiple widths as well as sizes. This allows for much better fit --- which equals comfort. Only brand I've found that offers a XWide (4E), Size 11. Optional styles and construction are great. I have worn only New Balance for many years and they wear well. When they no longer look good they graduate to the garage for use while working in yard, etc. I'm 85 and comfortable shoes are even more important.

My podiatrist recommended the New Balance walking shoe, ti improve arch support and circulation when walking. Being new, the fit was a bit tight, but as in all new shoes I'm sure they will get worn in quickly.

There does not seem to be a standard shoe size consistent between styles. I have NB 608 size 4E and I just bought NB 623 X-wide.

623 just a bit wider. Very annoying.

Firstly, the shoe is available in a wide width, which I usually find with some difficulty. Secondly, the shoe is comfortable and good looking. Wears well and serves my purpose. The only drawback is in the listing for the shoe, they don’t tell if the width is 2E or 4 E. That would be a great help.

Wore Nike for years but when they cancelled Betsy Ross tribute shoes I thought I would give New Balance another try. I quit wearing New Balance several years ago because of poor quality. It is even worse now. The 623's did not last three weeks before the stich on the right toe area has come apart.

Owned them for less than a month. Wore them twice during that time. Toe of left shoe has seperated from the rest of the shoe cause the stitching has torn. Have had some problems with New Balance in the past, guess it's time to try a new brand. Really wish there was a "no stars" option.
