We stand for something bigger than sneakers
We champion those who are fearlessly driven by their passions. We elevate sport. We do right by the people and the planet, together, we drive meaningful change in communities around the world. We Got Now.
-
How did we get our start?
New Balance has been rooted in innovation ever since William Riley, a young English immigrant, designed his first flexible arch insert in 1906. The arch was inspired by his observation that his backyard chickens, standing on three claws, achieved perfect balance.
Today, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit - together with quality, craftsmanship and a dose of risk taking - continue to drive our global business success.
What makes our products unique?
We have remained firm in our long-standing commitment to manufacturing and our unwavering belief that making things matters. As a company that still owns facilities that directly manufacture some of the shoes we sell, we are a better partner for the suppliers with which we work all around the world.
-
What problem are we solving?
We strive to have a positive impact in the communities in which we operate. We seek to ensure that the people who make our products – no matter where they are in the world – are treated with dignity and respect. We also believe in protecting our planet. We are constantly looking for ways to minimize and prevent negative environmental impacts in our operations and our global supply chain.

BUT, I've been pleasantly surprised by these quite-unknown running shoes! Their build quality feels actually quite impressive considering their price and obscurity, and they look great - maybe even better, in-person (I chose the blue ones)! You can tell these running shoes aren't your run-of-the-mill, cheapest, basic trainers you'd find at SportsDirect for similar prices - they've clearly put some thought into the design. I noticed they have a firmer material on the sides and a soft cloth-like material on the front, to allow ventilation and make sure your toes don't get pinched by the shoes if they're just a little too small for you (a really neat feature imo). And, I definitely know that these shoes were designed for running! Lots of the cheaper "running shoes" and "trainers" from companies like Adidas, New Balance, Nike, Asics, etc. are actually just sneakers: made for casual wear rather than activity - and it's so hard to tell what's what, so these were quite refreshing :)
And how do they feel? Well, I've only had them for a few days, but I've gone on a couple of 45 minute runs so far and my feet haven't been hurting at all. Running in them feels very comfortable: I ordered my normal size, and they were the perfect fit: tight enough that I won't experience heel-slippage, but with enough space for my foot and toes inside the shoe. I also like the fact that they come in half-sizes and standard/wide fittings, so if you know you're a certain size, you don't have to compromise, and if you know you have narrow/wide feet, you can pick the one to fit you just right :D
So all in all, I'm really surprised that these shoes are this good for the price, and yet if you look for reviews and discussion about these shoes online, there isn't really anything apart from these Amazon reviews. So, I figured I'd add my two-cents and recommend these to anyone who isn't a running-pro, but wants to replace an old cheap pair or get into running, in a well-designed, comfortable, high-quality feeling shoe!
Obviously this was disappointing, as the trainers had been bought with the intention of being used as running trainers. I thought to salvage the situation by just using the trainers on the exercise bike instead. Unfortunately, there was a hitch here too, as I found that the top layer of the trainer is to thin and offers no protection/barrier against the strap of the exercise bike. So, as well as not being suitable as a running trainer, the trainers also can’t be used on an exercise bike it seems.
Looking at the price of the trainer, I can’t say that I am overly surprised at the issues and I suppose you do get what you pay for. In short, I personally found that these trainers were not suitable for moderate to extensive physical exercise and that they are only suitable for light activity, such as walking. Unfortunately, I bought the trainers with exercise in mind, so found the trainers to be completely unsatisfactory and unfit for purpose.
In terms of positives, they look as the pictures suggest and I found the sizing to be accurate.
This however is not a road running shoe. The sole offers little to no shock absorbtion whatsoever, I am by no means a heel striker and tend to land more midfoot and even so found these a little jarring. For sure not for long distances and I cant imagine using them for speed work. For short jogs maybe.
On the upsides its a good looking shoe, and for the price is relatively well made. This is ideal for gym type work, jumping on a treadmill for a mile or two, barbell squats maybe even crossfit type stuff etc. As a trainer for day to day walking around its probably ideal and fairly comfortable.
They are very light, with a comfortable sole. I'm not running any great distances (5 or 6 km) and they have proved very good for this. When I'm up to it I'll put them through a longer session!
The only watch-out may be "foot-specific", but on first use they rubbed at the top of my heel. I've since been more choosy with the socks I wear and have had no problems since.
Really, for the price and what I'm using them for, they are fantastic.

These popped up for £27 so at that price point I thought why not give them a go.
For the price very good, I would pay any more than £60-70 for them as they're aren't up to the same quality as the 800 series shoes.
Although they look really comfortable with the huge amount of foam they're actually quite firm which I don't mind. They're alright as an everyday running shoe although most will want something a bit more cushioned especially if you're road running.
I've ran just under 100km in them so far with the longest run being 26km. No sore points, no blisters and feet didn't get too hot. The laces are very thin and I'm not sure they'll last long. I won't be using these for any speed sessions though, they don't feel all that responsive but you can still run quickly in them.
I'm a size 13 for running shoes and these in 13 are a great fit.
If you can get them under £50 in your size you've got yourself a bargain.
