Lack of Subtitles didn't help this one-off season.

Did my best with this and stuck it out for four episodes but couldn't sink my teeth into it.

Two main reasons : plot was highly improbable ( I can accept that as there have been some wonderful films with weird and outlandish story lines that have worked ) but was written and directed poorly in my opinion and didn't flow and mesh together which would have given the episodes some coherence. I liked the idea, it just wasn't executed very well.
Lack of English subtitles spoilt the series as some of the dialogue was very mumbled at times.
I would have been better off buying the Region 1 version on Amazon which HAS got subtitles.

Shame for us as there were some exciting sequences to the series as well as wonderfully funny interplay between Slater and screen wife, Madchen Amick, as he 'changed' from normal corporate man to zealous lover / nerdy father when the effects of his transformation kicked in unknowingly---the 'Hummingbird' episode is an example in point.

I can't say that my review is wholly accurate as I couldn't watch the complete series and give a totally unbiased critique. But I suspect the later episodes may have left this viewer wanting.
Think about buying the Region 1 version on Amazon which has English subtitles but as I write is much more expensive than this Region 2 dvd.

This was the only episode of the show that I had been unable to watch anywhere else online and I am very happy that Amazon had it. Definitely worth the purchase even if it was for just one episode. Such a great show; I wish it had continued.

Another show cancelled too early

OK, here we go again....another great show cancelled by a committee of overpaid morons.

Christian Slater has a great time playing Henry, a mid level office drone with the standard wife & 2 kids & alter ego Edward, his split personality who is a James Bond type working for a nefarious American secret agency. The stories are fun, the action is exciting & the supporting cast is excellent, particularly James Cromwell as the truly creepy & devious agency head.

It's a real shame that only 9 episodes were made, particularly as the characters back stories were all starting to develop in interesting ways, especially Henry/Edward's best friend Tom/Raymond who works for the same agency. Raymond's sorting out of Tom's wife's hit & run problem (I promise it all makes sense if you watch it) was marvellous & really rather touching.

Best line goes to Edward though, bemoaning a missed assassination opportunity: "Where was I when I needed myself"?

8 episodes of action packed plot , well acted, keeps you on the edge of your seat, funny at times, probably best not to try a series 2,but the ending leaves the door open
