This must-see epic depicts the birth of Islam. In the 7th century Mohammed is visited by Angel Gabriel who urges him to lead the people of Mecca and worship God. But they're exiled in Medina before returning to Mecca to take up arms against their oppressors and liberate their city in the name of God.

Best film I've seen in a good while
Human beings generally, have the genius to recognize a good idea when they are acquainted with it
Christians and Muslims believe in the one God
Speaking as a Christian and having read the Quo-ran I must admit there was nothing there that inspired me more than the New Testament. However Christians should note there are politically motivated propagandists, expounding Judaeo Christian liaison, at the expense of Islam. In the Quo-ran, Jesus Christ is seen as a divine being. This is not the case in Judaism. Not making a political point just tying to add balance

Historically and Factually Incorrect

I wanted to give it a 0 star! This is based on very weak historic records. There are many flaws, to give one example: In early days of Makkah after declaration of prophethood, there were a handful of Makkans who converted, Abu Bakr, Umar had not accepted Islam during that stage. They only converted few years before the migration to Medina. Ali was the sole helper and assister of prophet along with Abu Talib and Khadija (Prophet beloved first wife).

A beautiful film.

I would recommend this film to all, because it shows Muslims what it means to be A Muslim, and it teaches non Muslims that Muslims are a peace loving and tolerant people.

A DVD to see

A film that I saw many years ago in London at the Odeon, Leicester Square when it was first released and the audience then was predominantly Moslems. I heard many of them say that this film was the best portrayal they'd seen of the Prophet and hoped it would be available else where. Now it is available on DVD, with the magic of the original film and performances not being lost. For anyone wanting to know about the start of Islam, this is definitely a film to see to help you in your studies and understanding. I know of RE teachers who have seen this say how much it opened their understanding of Islam.
