So after much reading of reviews I decided to buy these. Although I am an average every day person and actually would never dream of paying almost 90 quid on some shoes for myself. I decided to bite the bullet. I walk 4-5 miles daily with my dogs and wanted something to keep my feet dry and comfortable. After reading all the reviews I got half a size above my usual size 5. Also purchased some waterproof spray.
I used these the very next day they arrived and have been amazed. They are very comfortable and my feet are wider than normal. I used the waterproof spray so dont actually know if they are waterproof but my feet have been bone dry. I've not had a single solitary blister and have worn these almost daily since I got them. I actually doubt i will buy another make now. So its 5***** from me
They are also supportive, and not too heavy at all. I have a pair of leather walking boots that can make my legs ache, but I feel like a spring lamb in these Merrell Moabs. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them at all - I would highly recommend them.
Oh, where have I walked? Up hill and down dale, on tracks, off tracks, in heather, grass, stone and rocks, woodland, bog, farmland, chalk downs. Marvellous, marvellous boots.
I've had several pairs of Merrells over the years and have always found them reliable, so these are a bit disappointing. I do hike every weekend, usually at least ten miles a day over a variety of terrain, and these have done several quite gruelling trips in the Lake District, rambling through water and up mountains, but I'd expected better longevity from these.
Quite disappointed.
The fit was fine my feet are wide but the usual half size up dealt with ant issues.
They were comfortable from the first but I found I needed more cushioning so replaced the insoles and always wear good cushioned socks.
They're mostly waterproof. They withstand rain and most puddles but you feel the damp creeping in after a few minutes in wet grass. They do dry out pretty quickly.
My gripe with them and the reason I would not buy them again is the lack of grip. Whether it is a small mud patch, wet leaves or there's been a slight frost, I felt I might as well have been wearing ice skates for all the grip these provided.
So far the bots have been waterproof but I have only had them 2 weeks . Have walked in marsh land deep puddles and very wet long grass and the boots have kept my feet dry . This was paramount to me . I am pleased with this purchase at time of writing , hope this feeling continues .
