1.0 out of 5 stars Great ... for about 4 weeks until they fall apart
By Abigail L Prestleton on 27 April 2021
An honest review of these shoes after 6 months of owning them ...

First impressions were fantastic, so comfortable and barely any bedding in time at all, however, things started to go downhill after about 4 weeks.

First of all the goretex failed completely, even just walking on damp grass the water would pour in, still a very comfortable pair of shoes though.

They developed their first hole at about 3 months, I’ve now owned them for 6 months and I think the photos speak for themselves! They are literally falling apart, I carried on wearing them after developing holes through sheer stubbornness (merrell no longer offer a warranty on shoes so no replacement available), but now they’re at the point where the sole has failed and caved away and I’m coming back with blisters on the bottoms of my feet where they’ve rubbed.

These shoes haven’t been used excessively, I’d estimate they’ve probably done somewhere around the 200 mile mark, a decent pair of hiking shoes from a reputable brand should be replaced every 500plus miles, but that doesn’t mean they should have fallen to pieces by this point! I had a pair of berghaus boots in the past that lasted me 8 years with similar levels of walking.

In summary, great shoe if they would last, but really badly made and poor customer service from merrell unfortunately. Avoid like the plague and look elsewhere.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slippery when wet!
By James Green on 7 January 2021
Bought a couple of pairs of these MOAB’s, for my wife, over a few months. Both pairs are good, quality made and a good comfy fit but. . . The newest pair are extremely slippery walking on wet or frosty roads, the first pair were bought in early spring when the weather was dry and now used for gardening but these newer ones bought in winter are a nightmare for her. The sole just seems too plastic, maybe good wearing but dangerous on wet roads.
