Unlikely to be a Major Hit in the UK.....
He is undoubtedly a football legend and will be revered by his many fans, worldwide.

To those of us, who through no fault of our own, were born in England, he will always be remembered as a cheat. A man who never admitted or apologised for punching the ball into the back of the net and claiming it to be, "The Hand of God." He should have been a better man than that. He had enough skill to win a game, without the need to lower himself to such a level, that he could parachute out of a snakes anus.

Such a shame and a lifelong tarnish on his character, that would be used as a base for his later stains and character blemishes to cling to.

Perhaps a man should not be judged by one day of his life. I will leave that for you to decide.

I have watched the first episode of this and it is reasonably well done. The dubbing can be seen as annoying, should you prefer to hear it in its natural language, with subtitles. Alas there is no choice.

As you watch this, bear in mind that several people charged with taking care of this man, in his final days, have been charged with offences that will lead to long term imprisonment. Should they be found guily of causing prolonged suffering. This could be viewed as karma, for all the sorry individuals involved. Including Maradonna, himself.

I may not like the nature of the man but a true life story, is always more compelling and indeed, very often stranger and more enetertaining than fiction.

Knowing that at least that there is a happy ending, makes it all the more worthwhile. A stroke of genius.

watch the 2019 documentary instead of this
As Episode 1 of "Maradona: Blessed Dream" (2021 release; 10 episodes averaging about 60 min. Each) opens, we are in "Punta Del Este, Uruguay", and we are following an overweight Diego Maradona who is struggling to stay on his feet. As he finally collapses, his life flashes by before his eyes. After the opening titles, we are in "Buenos Aires, Argentina", and all a young Maradona (7-8 years old?) can think about is playing football. He hangs out with his friends at a local farmer's market, offering to help carry fresh vegetables... At this point, we are 10 minutes into Episode 1.

A couple of comments: at the beginning of Episode 1, we are reminded that this series is "inspired by true events". Translation: much of what we see may or may not have happened; who knows. Yes, Maradona was one of the world's greatest footballers ever, that much we know. Yes, he had a hard life, much of it by his own choice. But that doesn't mean that what the producers of this mini-series are showing us actually happened. This mini-series is out for sensationalism, pure and simple. Maradona is portrayed by a slew of different actors along the way. Much of this was a major turn-off for me, to be honest. Suppose you really want to know what Maradona was like. In that case, I'd readily suggest you check out the 2019 documentary "Diego Maradona", directed by Oscar-winning Asif Kapadia (he won an Oscar for the Amy Winehouse documentary "Amy"). Now that is quality! "Maradona: Blessed Dream"? Not so much. (As a complete aside, but also not suitable, I found it impossible to watch this on Amazon Prime in its original format, i.e., in Spanish, and then add English subtitles. Instead, Amazon Prime is showing this in a horrible English-dubbed version that pushed me away from this even further. Amazon Prime would not allow me to change to the original Spanish version, adding English subtitles.)

"Maradona: Blesses Dream" premiered recently on Amazon Prime, and you can also catch it on Amazon Instant Video. All that said, I cannot recommend this mini-series in good conscience to anyone, and instead would urge you to check out Asif Kapadia's 2019 documentary. Viewer beware!

Greatest ever footballer and legend
As a football fan I loved Maradona he was without doubt the most iconic footballer ever to play the game. No other player dominated a World Cup like he did in Mexico and no other player did what he did in Napoli. He had his demons but that made him in my opinion even more amazing and that is why he was idolised as he was seen as one of us. What a difference to the majority of players today. Those fellow english men who embarrisingly after nearly 40 years still cannot get over the so called Hand of God, stop letting it cloud your judgement of his greatness.

A reminded of who really is the GOAT
With fanboys and fangirls arguing every day over who is the greatest between Messi and Ronaldo, the true goat sometimes is forgotten about but that is a generational thing for sure. I think many could say Ronaldo and Messi are our generation of Pele Vs Maradona to the throne.

I have seen a couple of reviews giving this a low score because they are still upset that he used his hands against England, which in my opinion is pathetic. This was a great series that helps you understand more about his humble beginnings and sadly terrible downfall due to the money, fame and specially people that surrounded him as 'friends'. In a way it is probably what every young footballer experiences now when you think about the insane wages they end up with as early as 16-18 but now days the world in general is different and not as corrupt and players are taken better care of but Maradona was the first big transfer and looking at it now it all makes sense why it was probably so easy for him to fall down that path.

In all, this is a great show and reminder why this man was the greatest.

Overall accurate biography with some bias
The series goes about the life of Maradona and his football career. The acting is decent, specially the actor that plays maradona during his years as a youngster, he clearly put an effort at learning every aspect of maradona's speech and behavior. The rest of the cast is decent as well. The only major issue that I find with this tv series is the clear political bias, most actors are militants of the current Kirchnerist party and that is reflected on their left-leaning narrative of Argentinian history. Then again Maradona was a self-declared supporter of Communist Cuba and Kirchnerism in the last 2 decades of his life so he would pretty much agree with this narrative.
Most people who admire Maradona would like this tv series as it's accurate about his virtues and failures as a person.

The other side of the story
Simply brilliant. The untold and hidden side of a simple man, who achieved the top of the world without forgetting his humble origins. Refreshing to watch how his personal and professional story reveals itself, hoping to reconcile the man with the soccer star.
