Love, Marilyn

7.21 h 47 min2012X-Ray12
Marilyn Monroe invented her public persona at the expense of concealing a private side known only to her close confidants. Fifty years after her death, her creation still blazes brightly in our cultural imagination, while the creator continues to lurk in the shadows.

A tribute to a wonderful person

I felt this film was an extremely thorough "labour of love" which is an affectionate tribute to the whole person behind the 'Star' image. I've read many books about Marilyn and I was pleased to learn even more things about her and her relationships. For example, I wasn't aware that Joe DiMaggio went on holiday with her many years after their divorce (when she was in need of a real friend, someone who wasn't going to use her) and for me, it was touching to see the footage of them on the beach. I knew that he sent roses to the cemetery every week but to see what a good friend he was to her whilst she was alive was quite special for me.
I would have given this 5 stars but I did feel that most of the male actors "over-acted" their lines hence the 4 stars. The actresses were wonderful but they did have Marilyn's words to say!
Definitely for the fan and I am very happy to recommend this.

the format of lots of actresses reading 1 line each from her diary means everytime someone speaks you've gotta figure out if they are actually talking or reading a diary extract, why do this ?

Wonderful docu

The only reason why I have given this documentary 4 stars instead of 5, is because the actors reading MM diary are too distracting. It should have been 1 voiceover artist to read her words. Apart from that it is a fab piece.

Great reflection of Marilyn's life

I bought this for my daughter and she loved it. She said that other actresses portray elements of the film but that it gave a great insight into who she really was. Good pressie for a fan

I just love anything to do with Marilyn Monroe, especially when it includes unseen footage or photos that I have not seen.
