Anyone over the age of 40 will know that modern Levi's 501's are NOWHERE NEAR as well-made or durable as those produced 30+ years ago (the last pair I purchased from the Levi's store barely survived two years of moderate wear).
Predictably, the ones I recently received from Amazon are made from lightweight denim, but having compared them to those sold on the high street, I am satisfied that they are at least genuine. What's more, they are comfortable and look as good as they always did.
Make no mistake. These jeans are definitely NOT worth the £100 that retail outlets are charging for them, but if you can get them for around £50 (as I did), they are still a worthwhile purchase. Just.

1) Measure your waist: wrap the measuring tape around your waistline – just above your belly button and where your waist naturally goes in slightly. Do not pull the tape too tightly around the body. Tip: For value accuracy, only wear thin clothing when taking the measurements.
2) Measure your inseam: measure your inseam length by placing one end of the measuring tape on the top of your inside leg and the other on the middle of your ankle. Tip: Take a pair of a pair of well-fitting jeans and place them on a flat surface to measure the inseam better.

NOT impressed that the 2nd time I wore these jeans I noticed the stitching has started to come away around the left pocket.Also label on the back slightly over laps the cross stitched seam on the lower right corner (see photo). I expect better from Levi's and it's not some thing I have noticed on other Levi's I have previously had. ...leading me to wonder if they are genuine??? I DOUBT IT!!
