Should be called the awakening of Larry Crowne........A BRILLIANT FEEL GOOD MOVIE.

OK why all the negative reviews.

This film had a brilliant cast not only Tom Hanks, and Julia Roberts, but Grace Gummer, Dean Tainot, George Takai , Taraji P. Henson, and others.

Directed by Tom Hanks.

I LOVED IT. It hooked me from the beginning to the end, i wanted more. A gentle love story, with comedy, a good story line and nicely paced and so good not to be exposed to raunchy sex scenes which seem to be the norm now as though people have to watch constant sex scenes to enjoy a movie. WRONG there are still a lot of us, who just want to enjoy a little romance that leaves us feeling good.

The 98 minutes flew by, and i will certainly put this one on my repeat list.

If you just want to enjoy good actors in a light comedy romance then you cant go wrong with this.

I would rather wile away

Missed the turn-off to romantic comedy

I wondered why I had never heard of this film - I usually jump at the chance to see any film by Hanks and I also quite like Roberts.
But this film just wasn't a good showcase of their talents. It lacked the quirky fun of You've Got Mail or Pretty Woman.

Neither character mustered enough personality to make a romance believable - and when the ending came, there was not really anything that made it seem likely.

There was nothing majorly objectionable. Unfortunately, I'll probably start watching it again because it was utterly, utterly forgettable.

A gentle romantic comedy with plenty of warmth.

This film is a pleasant, romantic film that managed to get exactly the correct cast together and demonstrate why they are regarded well by film watchers. The only part that was slightly fragrant of "fromage" was the end credits and the montage (which I won't ruin for you here).
Up-beat, lively and some very clever interplay between the characters, special mention to George Takei who managed to make a sparse bit-part delightful. It's one of those films that you can let wash over you and it certainly won't poke your conscience although it does make a point about the global lending mistakes of the late 1990's.
It's not a cerebral plot, but enjoyable just the same.

Not every film has to be a big box office smash-hit for it to be good. This film has subtle humour and romance

I don't understand the negative comments about this film! Not every film has to be a big box office smash-hit for it to be good. This film has subtle humour and romance, a breath of fresh air compared to the typical American rom-com which tends to ram both down your throat (bold acts of romance and declarations of love in front of large crowds of people who then all clap and cheer....Yuk!)
I think the chemistry between Roberts & Hanks was well suited to the storyline....any more and it would have come across fake.
All in all I felt this was a highly enjoyable movie, and had me smiling almost the whole way through! (I say "almost" purely because the beginning is quite serious and anyone with a heart will agree).
Watch and Enjoy people!!

I must have clicked a wrong button.

I asked for a DVD when it arrived it was blu ray. I must have clicked a wrong button somewhere but it is completely useless to me.
Considering how much information is held about us online I would have thought Amazon would know I buy DVDs and have never bought a blu ray, ever.

The positives are that it wasn't awful and Hanks was watchable. It had endearing and warm moments. The negatives, however, meant that it felt like a wasted hour and a half. The characters had no depth, there were no LOL moments and a lot of it was cringeworthy. The plot was unbelievable and simplistic. The actors deserve better.

What a truly delightful, feel-good movie this is! Some excellent acting from a cast who obviously enjoyed working together.

This is the first time I've seen Gugu Mbatha-Raw acting - she really is excellent and is clearly going to go far. And I'm happy to reveal that she's just as nice in real life as she appears in this movie; as a youngster she would always smile and say hello on her way to school and Hollywood hasn't spoiled her in the slightest. I was chatting with her the other day about her forthcoming movie "Belle", a period drama in which she has the leading part. It starts filming this month and I'm sure I won't be the only one who will be greatly looking forward to seeing it.

Its a hit on reality without guts and gore, its a feel good movie without unnecessary sickly sweetness. I really enjoyed the film, I've watched it a few times, and every time I get something new from it.
Enjoy it for what it is , a romantic comedy.
