Already damaged after 3 months

While it looks stylish, it isn’t good quality.
It is already visibly damaged after only 3 months. For a standard usage of reading it and carrying it around in my handbag - and not even everyday, I expected a much better quality from an Amazon product. I’m extremely disappointed with this cover.

Good quality but poorly designed

The cover itself is nice but pretty poorly designed. The reason being is once the front flap is folded back the ridge on the back of the Oasis that is used to hold the device comfortably in one hand is covered. There needs to be some sort of fold on the front flap that when it’s folded back it can still shape around the ridge. I find myself taking the Oasis out the case every time I come to use it and just use the case to protect it when it’s in my bag. To be honest this isn’t rocket science. I’m pretty surprise the designers have over looked this. Especially as it’s supposed to be the official amazon case.

Not Worth the Money

I have tried to get a decent cover for my 2019 Oasis and the first two (Foluu case and Ayotu case) both claimed to be compatible but the auto on/off did not work so I returned them. This Amazon branded case was my third attempt and this one works. However, when folded fully open, it covers the part of the Kindle designed to give you a bit more grip and so defeats the object of the grip area. The quality of the case is just ok. If it was priced at £10 it would be reasonable. It is strange that Amazon would sell a high-end ebook reader but not offer a decent waterproof cover at a reasonable price. I could have bought a more expensive Amazon branded leather case but that would (I assume) add a lot of weight and would (again, I assume) be damaged by water. All in all, I'm disapointed with this case but feel I'm stuck with it since no non-Amazon case seems to work with auto on/off which is an essential feature in my opinion.

Before I bought this really great case for my new Kindle Oasis 10th Generation.
I read several very negative reviews on covers . The prices were pretty steep.
Finally I asked for assistance from people who had bought any cover they would recommend ...and to those kind people who took the time to reply ...Thank you so much ...
They recommended this cover , which I received today. .
It’s really Great ...fits perfectly looks so nice ! I love it. I cannot comment on durability as yet ...but It does wake it up and put it bed folds back cleanly for reading it feels nice to touch..I haven’t yet noticed any appreciable extra weight or I’m so impressed with its looks I don’t care...shallow Moi’...it’s possible.. but so glad I asked for some assistance and thanks again for your input. FMO..

Not comfy to hold...

The Oasis Kindle is shaped to be easy to hold, however for me this case is comfyist with the front cover folded all the way round which makes it the same shape as an ordanary kindle, that said I do love the look of it

The front cover of the case has been edged round the side with a thin strip of rubber however after 3 months and not a lot of use and only careful handling (and not getting wet) most of this has already peeled off and exposed the joins in the material.

I do not find it comfy to hold this case with 2 hands, and to get the benifits of the oasis' shape you have to leave the front cover flapping about loose which is very annoying or fold it all the way round, negating one of the advantages of the Oasis model.

Overall I'm glad I purchased it on Prime day when it was almost half price - but I still fell that was too much for what you get,and the percieved durability. I can see me buying a leather case in the end or a 3rd party one - which is a shame as I love the colour of this case and it still wasn't a cheap buy.

Ultimately I wouldn't reccomend this case or buy it again at full price but I would be tempted if it dropped to about £20 - I was much happier with the leather case on my Kindle Keyboard, had this for about 8 years and besides getting dirty from suncream build up feels brand new still - I shouldn't be seeing signs of wear after only 3 months on what is priced as a premium case.

Overpriced and poorly designed

I'm astonished that Amazon considers £40 a reasonable price for an item that looks and feels like it should be in their Basics range! It has an unpleasant semi-sheen, clearly the result of their 'water-safe' design. I can tolerate that. It adds a substantial weight to the Oasis, making it less comfortable to hold one-handed without support (or at least it does for me), but by far the most obvious design flaw is that when the front cover is folded back out of the way, it doesn't follow the shape of the back of the Kindle. This is such as shame as I really love the ergonomic design of the back, so comfortable to hold. Adding the cover nullifies that, unless you're happy to hold the cover in your other hand, like a traditional book. It feels a little more robust and less tacky than the £16 third-party alternative but nothing like the quality I would expect to adequately protect a £260 Kindle and I have no confidence that it would do anything short of shatter if dropped. The movement of the spine when folded back also suggests this isn't going to last long with regular use. If there had been any product at all other than the £16 cheapy (which I purchased and returned) I'd have returned this one too and bought that, even if it cost more. I don't mind spending good money on a case if it's going to do the job. I'd have bought the leather one and paid more again, but the reviews are not good! The Oasis is a beautiful thing and it deserves a case to match that.

Better than the “premium” leather case

Bought this after making the mistake of buying the leather one. Fortunately, at least so far, this case is superior (and 25 quid cheaper). It doesn’t add a lot of weight to the Kindle which is good. Like the leather case, the Amazon logo in the corner looks rubbish. If they must have a logo, a Kindle one would look a lot less naff. Also, and this has been mentioned in other reviews, when you fold the cover back it cancels out the chief design feature of the wedge, defeating it’s purpose. It’s not a deal breaker, still quite easy to hold. And certainly a lot less slippy than the overpriced leather case.
