Customer reviews
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I bought the kindle oasis and seen this cover and thought I’d treat myself, I was very disappointed when it arrived. For £49.99 I was expecting much nicer!
It seems really flimsy, the kindle oasis has a spine like shape at the back for ease of holding, when you have this cover on the front flap opens and covers the spine like shape of the kindle and makes it awkward to hold. I tried holding it with the cover open but not folded round the back but I’m contemplating the front cover tearing from the back part as it feels that flimsy.
For this cover I think £10 should be the maximum charged, I think I’d have been not over expecting then as this is certainly not worth £49.99
I was apprehensive about buying it, as I believe the original amazon cover for the 2017 oasis had a lot of negative reviews, and it wasn't made clear that this was a new version. However, this version does the job well. The oasis has a push fit into the back of the cover, which respects the contour of the oasis for comfortable holding. The front is held closed with a magnet. On opening, it auto wakes the device, and auto sleeps on closing. Fully open the front fold flips to the back where it can be held in place again by a magnet. Alternatively, it's easy to hold the device by its rear mound and just hook the front cover under your holding hands little finger.
It is steeply priced for what it is, to me about £30 would be appropriate, but it's exactly what I wanted it to be. If you've splashed the cash for an oasis over the excellent new paperwhite, you may aswell get the best case for it.

The first Amazon covers for the Oasis 2 were similar in form, with the addition that they could be folded to stand the Oasis 2 at an angle. I didn't find much use for that feature as the angle wasn't right for me and it couldn't be adjusted. In addition, holding the Kindle with the cover open (like a book) just didn't feel right due to the cool feel of the metal of the Oasis. Folding the cover back for some reason made the Kindle feel unbalanced to me. I tried a few third-party covers, but they are never as good as an OEM Amazon cover - they're always too poor-quality / poorly-fitting / heavy / bulky / non-magnetic / etc.
This Merlot Leather Cover is excellent quality, as always from Amazon. It incorporates most of the nice touches mentioned above, but also covers the metal of the Oasis 2 or 3, so that 'book feel' that was missing from the first iteration has returned. In addition, although sadly not magnetically attached, the Oasis can be easily removed and replaced if necessary, but won't fall out with normal use. Many people complain of the price, and I would agree that Amazon are to an extent gouging people. I would recommend that people wait for the occasional money-off codes for Kindle accessories (I used a 25% off code). However, regardless whether you pay full price or a discounted price, you will not find a better quality cover for the Oasis 2 or 3.
If you have an Oasis 2 and the previous Amazon Folding Cover, I highly recommend you upgrade to this one. If you have an Oasis 3, please note that Amazon have removed the magnets from inside the Oasis 3, so the original folding cover will not attach to it magnetically. If you are debating with yourself whether it's worth the money - it isn't, but you won't find a better cover at any price.
Now about 2 weeks old I'm getting the same issue as other reviewers. The hinge has softened so the cover now moves about, meaning the magnet turns the Oasis back on and the battery drains when it is closed.
Original:
Now on my 3rd Kindle, each more expensive and less likeable. The cases are the same. The Oasis will be my last.
Bad points:
1 Most annoying, the front cover has a sealed edge, thin and relatively sharp. When the cover is open for reading this edge digs into my supporting finger and makes reading for any amount of time uncomfortable. When open the front cover also makes the back of the Oasis flat, so you loose the handy 'step' for holding it. One that folded (like my Voyage cover) would be better.
2 The front cover is very thin and is difficult to get hold of to open the case.
3 The plastic holder is very brittle plastic which I think would crack easily if dropped.
4 The plastic holder is quite awkward to use. It needs quite a lot of force to push the Oasis all the way in. Even more difficult to take it back out, which is bad because I can't stand using the Oasis with the cover on but it's so expensive I need to cover it in my bag.
5 The leather is very thin and just glued into the back, I expect it to get shabby looking very quickly.
Good points:
It fits. That's it.
Seriously, this is not worth £50, maybe £10. It is only useful for safely transporting your Oasis because when on it ruins it for actually reading. I'm going to make a slip-cover and bin this over-priced and poorly-conceived rubbish.
What does it not do, feel like £50s worth or anywhere close. If it was £20, that might be ok.
I honestly don't know how they can justify this case to cost £50. I've had cheap tablet covers which cost £10 which were of similar quality.
It's slim, it's light, it supposedly leather and it'll most likely do its job.
