Not good for hiking

I bought these for a hiking trip to Utah. I wore them around the house in the weeks before and found them comfortable, but never covered much distance.

On the first day in Utah I did the easy 3 mile hike to Delicate Arch and the seam on the inside took the ski off my toe. Thankfully I brought sneakers but I won’t be hiking in them again. Unfortunately my return period runs out on this trip so I am stuck with them.

I followed what the general internet said was the American shoe size as compared to the foot measurement in inches. (largest foot at 11 inches = size 11) That size fits my feet perfectly. Very comfortable sandals. Obviously not an orthotic but solid arch support. First good luck I've had in a long time ordering online shoes. Love 'em.

I needed a ‘break in’ period composed of 3 or 4 wearings of several hours each and a few miles before these felt comfortable. I suspect that’s pretty normal when you’re used to an older pair of Teva which were very well ‘broken in’. After a month of wearing 3 or 4 days a week they’re comfy and perform that way even when damp. The water proof leather seems to be just that at this point in their use and hosing them off and letting them air dry has no effect on comfort the next time they’re worn. The sizing was true and the tread suited my needs (mostly lawn, road, and sidewalk with brief stints of dirt and lake side) very satisfactorily.

For Keen Newports and other shoes I wear 11.5, all Oboz 11.5, all Merrill's 11.5, Eccos 46/11.5. I returned this sandal in 11.5 and re-ordered it in 11 which still fits with plenty of room, and are very comfortable. You can walk comfortably in these, but hiking would be a stretch. And the foot bed texturing is survivable, but I don't like it.

Very happy with these sandals. I was choosing between these and the Teva Terra FI 5 (which are also very nice) but I found like the strapping of these Keen sandals better. There are more points of contact against the foot which made it feel more secure. I have since used these sandals for white water rafting and light hiking and they have been great and very comfortable so far.

These sandals are comfortable and have good support. Problem is that if you wear them daily after a week your feet will smell really bad due to the texture on the sole which captures human skin and moisture. Over a short time there is a bacteria party going on there. Only solution is washing the sandals often.

These are comfortable but the soft liner soaks up sweat like a sponge so these sandals have to be throughly cleaned every other wearing which isn't practical. The previous version of these sandals had a liner that didn't absorb moisture and stayed fresh much longer.
