Kate and Jai - 1.5 stars each....the SJW woke agenda? Zero.

Pretty boring really from a story perspective but that doesn't make a film bad. Look at all the Arnie films! They were good, and the story was almost non-existant.

Anyway, Kate and Jai were good as they always are but the writers clearly had the post modern agenda to push:

Just stop it . Please. Make a good film, Jesus.

Anyway, this review is fair but it'll prob get deleted so. Whatever. Film is just alright, but politics aside could have been good.

Rubbish... except for Kate!

Can't imagine why anyone would give this 5 stars. It's the latest addition to the collection of bang average films with an agenda being heavily pushed.

To start off with the plot is ridiculous, the whole angle of the anger management problem was a weak attempt at putting a twist on a rampage film. Nothing new or at all good.

Casting was a mixed bag. Obviously, speaking as a man I thoroughly enjoyed watching Kate Beckinsale for however long the film lasted; she's the eye-candy. Stanley Tucci was OK too. The rest was poor. In terms of the agenda pushing they seem to have shamefully rammed the various social justice movements down our throats once again for the views - a token African-American transgender person. It was all way too on the nose putting all that diversity on one character (who acts quite stereotypically) and being an almost entirely white cast aside from that.

Boring and unoriginal

Really can't see anything in this film that is worth watching. The story is "has been seen before", the characters are "have been seen before", the music is one of the only films over the past ten years that fails on reviving the 80s. The lead character is 1D, crappy and nasty, the supporting characters have more background and character than something I found on my George Foreman Grill. Ironically the best bit of this is the short care chase at the start. It was short and to the point. Writer Scott Wascha is up there with the person who wrote 50 Shades as a disgrace to their trade.

Derivative revenge comedy(?) drama(?)

I like Stanley Tucci. He manages to be as big as the role he's playing needs him to be. The rest of the cast, not so much. Someone somewhere saw crank and thought: "Let's do the opposite." The premise is Lindy needs a device to control her impulses. Something happens and Lindy goes on a spree to uncover the mystery. So, John Wick, without the cute dog. The plot is predictable, but plot doesn't matter when you want to watch uninventive fights and a 100lb woman beat up guys twice her size. Mercifully it's short, so it doesn't overstay its welcome. The humour doesn't land, if you want funny watch Kate Beckinsale's Instagram cat and dog videos.

** No Spoilers **

This is an easy evening watch. Nothing particularly new in this revenge film. The actual premise for the revenge is weak, as is the ending but there are some witty one liners and some reasonable fight scenes. If that's your thing.

The hour and a half passed pretty quickly for me, even with a break for a takeaway Indian at the 30 minute spot and whilst it wasn't the best film I have seen this year, it certainly wasn't the worst.

I give Amazon their due for trying and their recent sci-fi film was not a bad effort at all. This is just a little bit average but worth a watch and certainly entertaining.

I don't understand some reviews bitching about the film having an agenda or being overly politically correct or woke. That certainly never came across for me and we do have plenty of Male lead, one man army films. Where the lead actor can seemingly wipe out a whole army single handedly, without suffering a scratch. So why not have a female lead that can do the same? It makes a change and is no more or less believable.

I do not receive any free gifts or payment of any kind for writing these reviews. I am just happy to share my experience with like minded Amazonians. In the hope that you may find it helpful.

Good luck finding your next great film.

Much better than the critics say

I don't understand the hate for this movie. It's entertaining and enjoyable. Visually it's very nice. OK, it lacks enough of its own originality and creativity to offset being a little derivative, but it still works. It's flimsy but the pacing makes it a decent watch. Beckinsale is a little posh and proper for the role but it's light entertainment, it's not meant to be all dark and serious. The fights are unimaginative and it's hard to care what happens to the star so it loses points for that, but it passes the time as well as any mass-market, lowest-common-denominator, Hollywood filler.

Stunning film, high action, fantastic acting by Kate Beckinsale
Verified purchase
I truly do not understand the negative reviews that are here - this is a stunning film and I loved it and will be watching it again, something I rarely do - I mostly never watch films twice.

Kate Beckinsale is the lead and ehr acting is brilliant, wholly believable, strong female lead, the tongue in cheek comedy works beautifully - I enjoyed the "Underworld" film set but was not blown away by her acting there - but in this film, she is outstanding.

There are car chases, explosions, hand to hand fighting, daring climbs, escapes, nad just the tiniest bit of romance - not to worry it lasts about minutes max, so not at all soppy, it is a riotously good action packed rie and truley think perhaps the people leaving negative reviews are watching the wrong filme - this film is brilliant.

Sranley Tucci is his usual self, wearing hte role well and bringing an interesting twist to the story.

The plot - is really good - if you like the jason statham films, especially in "hobbs&Shaw" or "crank" you will love this film.

This is a full on , fast paced action film, starts slowly to give background, but is done in a brilliant way with a tongue in cheek monologue over snippets of the characters early life, and I feel a lot of women, me in cluded will very much be able to relate, especially the bits about being thought less capable by men, or not " her off" - the plot does have a few holes, and the pre-ending bit reveal was a little weak, but Kate carried it through and really made this film.

note -

The ending suggests there may be more - as this film was officially released July 2021, and is already on Prime, I am determined to keep an eye out for more.

The ending is not the whole ending, at the end of the main credits ( just after the honorable mention of Stanley Tucci) there is an extra little short bit.

Watch the film and decide for yourself - it is included in PRIME and is a film where you will want to clear your schedule and just immerse yourself in it.

just in case - I personally would not recommend this to younger viers - there is a fair bit of britich swearing and much violence, blood and death.

Not terrible but...

People seem to hate "Jolt", but it's not that bad - you could instead be watching "Ibiza Undead" which is a real stinker. Kate Beckinsale is great in it and her character's actually quite compelling, though the film clearly aspires to act as a pilot which, in the unlikely event it's picked up for a series, will no doubt star someone else. I would like to give it more than three stars, three and a quarter maybe, but not four, as it's definitely not that good, and comments others make about the prominent back of a stuntperson's head in fight scenes are justified . The main source of hilarity though is the streets of London (and Bulgaria I think) standing in for New York by virtue of some signs hung up saying "American Store" and "Git Yer Bagels Here" (I exaggerate slightly, but not much). Also not a single cast member takes a moment to refer at any point to Kate's English accent, even when she talks about w@nking, which is something they don't have in the USA. And the villain seems to live in the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern, if I'm not mistaken. Never mind - here's to "Jolt 2 - The Discharging" :-)
