Orpheus was the only mortal on whom Apollo had bestowed the gift of music. A few years after his adventures as one of Jason's Argonauts, Orpheus married Eurydice and settled down. Greek myths and true stories

Sadly only 4 of these episodes were made.
They go deeper into the mysteries of times gone by than the Storyteller.

Would of been good to see where this series went had Jim Henson been around longer.
Definitely worth a look if you know the Storyteller series already.

Classics (and Primary School ) Teachers - don't mith these myths!

This is a BRILLIANT little series of dramatisations of some of the most famous Greek myths. Each one lasts 15-20 minutes, crammed with information and superb acting, visually fascinating too. I would say that they are perfect for children from 9/10 to 13/14. Older children will appreciate them on a more sophisticated level. Daedalus and Icarus, Theseus and the Minotaur, Orpheus and Eurydice, Perseus and the Gorgon - these are the four myths on the DVD

Pretty sad in places

Much scarier than I remember. I bought it for my kids but they find it terrifying. Some stellar actors in it: Michael Gambon & Derek Jacobi for starters. Pretty sad in places too

I watched these versions of Greek myths with my young daughters years ago and we all thought they were brilliant. Time has not altered my opinion. It is great that they are now available on this DVD. Worth every penny!
