Lazy and childish, but not in the good way

I watched this again to see if it's as bad as I remembered it to be (I would have rated it 1 star back in the day). Well, it's not AS bad and I can understand why some people like it... it's just that I don't.

I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith's early films - he showed that he could be crass and disgusting while simultaneously being clever and funny. That's quite a skill and one that I'm not sure even Joss Wheddon could get away with. The problem is that he stopped being clever and continued with the childishness. Now that's something that some people love - if you like the American Pie films then 'JaSBSB' is a film for you.

As for me, I can still appreciate fart and dick jokes, just make the joke better than "whoops, I farted!" or "I'm a woman who farts - outrageous!". It's just lazy writing.

`i remember watching this many many years ago, The first film that introduced me to Kevin Smiths movie, Along with Mallrats and Chasing Amy, this movie is one of the best in the genre of adult comedy; although Chasing Amy was a bit more on the serious and tragic love story.

This movie a a perfect amount of pop culture mockery mixed with a plot so silly that you know this movie doesn't take itself seriously at all.
It's an endearing tribute to two characters much-loved by myself and many fans of Kevin Smith movie universe.

And it never gets boring.

I love this movie. If you're a fan of Kevin Smith, you'll like this one. To be fair, many of the jokes won't make any sense if you're not familiar with the rest of the Smith oevre! The blue-ray issue has brilliant, clear images and sound. It's a shame there aren't any more features. I haven't had a chance to check out the commentary track yet, but it's on my to-watch list.
One of my favourite highlights is the scene with Carrie Fisher. 'It's easy to say you live by the book, but can you? Can you live by the book?' 'Well, you picked us up. I gotta, don't I?' Classic Smith humour.

Stoner movies don't always have to be for stoners.

I don't really know how to describe Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back without swearing. I'll just say that the whole ordeal with the orang-utan is by far the best part of the movie, and convincing Will Ferrell's FWM Willenholly that the orang-utan is their adopted child in their homosexual relationship is the cherry on the cake. A surprise cameo from Mark Hamill, along with appearances from Jason Lee, Matt Damon, and recent Oscar winner [in a way] Ben Affleck make this a movie you'll always enjoy.
