Nice film for a rainy day for kids probably aged around 5-8

Bought this for my 5 year old son who watched it all the way through (he doesn't normally watch anything right to the end). Not too long which is a bonus.

The beginning is a bit odd but once it gets into the film quite good, it does take a while .

Not many great special effects but it isn't a blockbuster film, but was still enjoyed.

Worth a punt for a rainy day to keep the kids quiet for an hour or so. Would only recommended for ages 5-8 as older kids may find it boring.

Grand-daughter loves this film
Verified purchase
I wasn't sure when I watched this film with my 5 year old grand-daughter as it seems to be a modern day twist on the original story but the GD loves it and has watched it over and over.

Nothing like the original story and a poor modernisation

I was expecting something more real/close to reality. Not a good movie. If you like the story, I would search for a more classic version.

Really good story!!

A modern twist on an old story. There were a few mildly famous faces. My son loved it as it was his favourite story at the time. The giant wasn't very shouty and loud like in the storybook, the way he says "fee fi fo fum" would be a bit scary for a child, my son was a bit creeped out (he was just 3 at the time) but as long as you sit with them the first time watching it they should be fine.

SUB-TITLES LAGGING BEHIND
Verified purchase
Annoyingly, the sub-titles lagged behind the narrative by about 30 seconds, which was very off-putting. I'm sure it's easy to rectify, and hope that's been done

Great for older ones

I enjoyed watching this dvd, especially with the cast in it, but my 3 year old was totally bored from the start. I would suggest that maybe it is for the slightly older child and those young at heart! It is a little bit long winded at times.
