Another opportunity missed
Verified purchase
OK, it is based on a novel, so the storyline is set, but, damn, what a missed opportunity. The acting is great, the story is a not as cliched as it might be, but it so frustratingly misses the mark. The narrative flow just doesn't work!! It is like a series of good scenes that don't hang together. Terrible story telling. Here comes the spoiler: delighted the bad FBI guy is nailed (yet another solid performance from Clive Owen) but why can't they nail the drug dealer as well? Yet another film with a flimsy, unsatisfying ending. Is this the fashion now? Is having a solid wrap up too old fashioned. GRRRRR

A convicted man, gets to work, undercover for the FBI. Nothing new there. The FBI next decide to try cut any connection with this convicted man, because...? Polish gangsters in the USA, so what?

Well I enjoyed it

Perhaps it's because I have a Polish wife - so we could enjoy the many assumptions about Poland made in this movie. I think the acting is decent - Pike and Kinnerman are very good at what they do. Seen better from Clive Owen, however. Set pieces in the film are very well put together and convincing. What more do you want? I recommend it.

Very good thriller, worth watching

I like both main actors: Joel (altered carbon, Hanna), Rosalind (Wot) and they played their parts very well. The interesting storyline, brutal life of the informer. Quite realistic overall and I loved Polish dialogues - natural and colloquial. Worth watching.

Taut and well delivered

Regular genre stuff but better scripted and delivered than most, it holds tension throughout and is spared most of the unbelievable escapes or scrapes that usually accompany this kind of film. Solid and taut throughout, this is well worth watching.

Nothing Special!

Can't understand the other 5* reviews. It was pretty average and the storyline was confusing and a little mundane! I have seen much better and this was not particularly original.

Nearly a great film

Compelling main character and good intrigue between NYPD, FBI and gangsters. Moral dilemmas and bravery. Plot has a few twists but the pace slackens at the end. Assortment of English actors doing bad US accents.

Worth the time

A few big names, kinda predictable story line but there were minor surprises too. Worth the time.
