An American journalist and blogger are kidnapped by the Iranian regime while attending a conference in the Middle East. He is put on trial for trumped-up charges of espionage. Realizing the American government can do nothing, his wife, who works for the State Department, goes to Iran to try to free him herself, lest he becomes one of the many forgotten American prisoners held captive in Iran.

This is a Christian action movie, watchable if that appeals

This is a Christian action movie. This isn't clear at all from the blurb but after a few minutes into the movie it becomes pretty clear (I have since looked it up to confirm it) that one of the points of the movie is to spread Christian faith. So it is analogous to Christian rock - can be ok for the genre but definitely comes with a "message". This also explains the cringey script and production quality comments in the reviews; it isn't Hollywood quality. There are definitely better action/ kidnap/terrorism movies out there, but if the Christian angle is a plus for you, it isn't unwatchable(especially during lockdown when you have already seen the good ones). I think they should be more upfront about the movie's evangelistic slant, but maybe they are hoping to gain a few followers in the unsuspecting viewers.

Not quite sure what I just watched. The film decided to split itself into two parts - what initially started out as a fairly passable political captive/ hostage plot clunked into some 2-bit amateur student spoof of The Great Escape, whereby I winced, in awe, at the most ludicrous 'action' sequences possibly committed to celluloid.

I swear at one point the main protagonist punched the air in the general direction of an assailant, with the other guy tumbling in slow-motion, yet in real-time, simultaneously. It was cinematic magic.

A little further on we had helicopters, terrible shootouts straight out of Hot Shots and the previously- believable 'extras in speaking roles' becoming 'The Room' rejects. It's as if film's budget had run out but they wanted to end on an explosive note, think Rambo III but only having a budget left of £12.

So think of it as part-credible thriller, part- drama, with a generous dollop of A-grade comedy tagged on at the end as the cherry on top. The 'wife', and lead actor Jim Cazievie.....Cavizil...."Caz" were the only actors with any gravitas, I suspect they fired their agents not long after this production finally ensured its place in film immortality. A film not to be missed

Great Film, Almost Spoilt By Poor Ending
Verified purchase
A really enjoyable film, with a well though out plot, strong characters, high tension and intrigue. Then comes the ending where I found myself shouting at the strung out and unnecessarily delayed climax to the film. It loses some integrity at this point. It loses a star for this. Well worth a watch despite this.

Well I am normally pretty generous in my praise, but this was really very average. Acting was dreadful, the 'romance' non-existent, characters rather bland, and the plot and script nothing notable. I guess I've wasted time on worse things though. Hence two stars, not 1. I do like Jim Caviezel though, so he also helps secure the second star. I guess I'd give it 2.5 if I could.

A great thriller

This is a cracking thriller with an emotional thread running through it with three stunning great performances from Jim Caviezel, Claudia Karvan and Hal Ozsan. The story is about an innocent American captured in Lebanon for a crime he has not committed. It has a great emotional and dramatic build-up and a stunning chase and climax. Definitely one of the better thrillers I have watched this year.

another typical biased film showing islam in a bad light. one thing u learn though, movies are usually the opposite to reality. Shame on those who hijack islam and make the world go against muslims.

Exciting. Unnerving. Nail biting action to the end.

Another well acted and portrayed film which will keep you watching to the last credit. Raising legitimate concerns for real modern day issues still affecting people today. Balanced and well filmed. Well worth watching.

I don't usually write reviews of films but that was 1hr45mins of utter rubbish. Only worth watching for the shockingly low budget brief fight scene at the prison that had me in stitches it was so bad.
