My daughter and I watched this film, we both thoroughly enjoyed it. If you want to pass some time with the little ones or you are a big kid at heart like me you can not go wrong with this film

Lovely animation...and an incredibly lazy plot.

"Hotel Transylvania: Tranformia" is a sluggish film about to be released on Amazon Prime. I say sluggish because the plot is essentially the previous movies! For example, in the original "Hotel Transylvania", the vampire father has trouble accepting his incredibly annoying human son-in-law to be. Here in the fourth film, the son-in-law is married to Drac's daughter..., and dad is STILL having trouble accepting him. The story seems to say it's because of the father's prejudices, but to me, it seemed more because the son-in-law was incredibly annoying and addle-brained.

So what did I like about this film? Well, the animation is excellent. Other than that, the story seems to scream 'made to be aired directly on DVD or a channel like Netflix or Amazon Prime". Younger kids will likely enjoy it...and parents watching should probably have some knitting or a laptop handy as the film will bore them if they've seen the previous films, as the story has nothing in the way of innovation or originality.

Transformania was alright...

As far as an animated movie can go, this was alright but is nothing compared to the previous entries. This movie had some issues while in production and was delayed more than a few times for whatever reason - most likely due to creative differences and perhaps some challenging problems with management but the movie was finally released.

I was honestly expecting just a little more from Transformania, but for now, let's just focus on the positives.
Hotel Transylvania never lacks in talent when it comes to voice acting and animation, once again they nailed it! For the voice acting in particular, they had to get this absolutely right since Adam Sandler was not reprising his role as Dracula in this final instalment and neither was his daughter who was the voice actor for Winnie. It hasn't been made public as to why they did not reprise their roles but their replacement did so well. Brian Hull and Zoe Berri did super well and I'm glad they got to be part of something special.

Transformania managed to capture some funny moments that were backed up purely by goofiness or comedy, sometimes both. I'm happy to say that the plot helped carry this along as well since the roles are reversed between Johnny and Dracula - this was a welcomed change and I wish they had done something similar in the previous movies.

The negatives about this movie are that, well, the pacing is poor and seems rushed. Scenes are quite short and make huge jumps and changes that actually caught me off guard sometimes. Those few times I was left thinking "wow we are at this part already?" which is not particularly good - so much was wasted just to make the movie end soon.
Lastly, the plot. It was good, but once again it follows a previous and yet similar plotline to the first movie where Dracula doesn't really accept Johnny for who he really is and doesn't see him as part of the Dracula family (even though everyone else does) so it's weird for all this time to pass and everything they have been through and somehow, for some reason, Dracula still has a problem with him. I am willing to look past this since on this one occasion, they made the movie fun and enjoyable so I was not bored.

Final verdict and last words: The movie is fun, enjoyable and funny. The target audience is definitely the younger fans of the franchise! 3/5 Stars.

Brian did a good job in taking over the role of Drac. It isn't the best film in the series but also not the worst. It had a good overall message regarding looking for the best in people

Great story, harking back to the orginal (less Dennis...yaaaaay!) - the only thing I didn't like was the fact this is the last film! I haven't felt this excited about a film since they invented Stuffed Crust Pizza!!!! And I wasn't disappointed! :D Can't wait to buy it to complete the set! :D

The Hotel Transylvania films before this all have a specific animation style that being it is VERY animated, and always looking for some slapstick laughs.
It has become one a series now which has fallen into the "what situation can we put them in next" such as when movies did the old "lets put them in the city!" or that sort of thing, so the previous one they had them go on a vacation and this one now they have them swap being a monster to being a human and vice versa.
So don't expect some sort of story which tries to explain it all or whatever, it is just these characters having fun and getting through this crazy situation, the overall story is about being accepting to someone who is different - which imo is a nice subject for little kids to understand even in this bonkers story.

This film is absolutely bonkers, every character seems to have ADHD even Dracula seems very animated in this one so they have really cranked the hyperactivity level up with this one, which is what you need today because 1 minute of talking will be enough to make a lot of kids lose interest (especially mine!)
my 2 year old daughter who would usually be climbing all over me during a film, sat perfectly still and enjoyed every second and you can see why - it never lets up, there will be a scene of talking but the characters are always doing something very expressive and humorous, kids will be watching this rather than listening at these moments so they have nailed this.

As an adult it can just seem as silly, or nothing different from the other films but what do you expect really.

Adam Sambergs voice performance for Johnny is crazy, he really is good at really hyping up the character - it is as if he drank about 30 energy drinks before recording these lines, you can really feel for dracula in a way that Johnny is really annoying and over the top, which is what you (and dracula) need to see past to appreciate.
No Adam Sandler this time, not sure why, perhaps he is tied to Netflix and Amazon bought the rights to this, not sure. But Brian Hull does an excellent impression and a lot of the time you don't notice the change, even throws in a "Bleh blebleh" in there, you focus too much on the performance to notice the change from Adam to Brian and as he changes to a human in this one, it makes sense to have a little less "Dracula".

Frankenstein isn't voiced by Kevin James but his replacement Brad Abrell does an excellent job and his transformation to "Sexy Man" is hilarious, we burst out laughing at his selfies and posing.

My favourite character in this though is Professor Van Helsing, he is totally bonkers, Jim Gaffigans performance is perfect and so great to see more of this character rather than being a villain in the first film, he is more of a monster than the actual monsters!

The film is just the right length, it has just the right calm moments and it doesn't feel like it has a lower budget, you get to see the hotel, travel to the jungle and see some pretty cool big monsters! The style of it is very over the top which my kids loved and I enjoyed this for what it is, a totally bonkers and fun family adventure, with a few naked butt jokes and slapstick humour to keep everyone giggling.
Kids will love Johnny and adults will empathise with Dracula becoming a human, it's got something for everyone.

Just don't expect some deep and meaningful story or character development that you would expect from say a Pixar movie or whatever, but that's why I enjoy these movies because they entertain my kids on repeat viewing because of the non-stop style that is has.

This movie had me in fits of laughter 😂
I've enjoyed all of the movies in the set, but this one was so different since the roles got all reversed... the only thing that spoilt it was the fact that it kept coming up with an error every time I try to download it... there's no reason why as I've downloaded many other movies to enjoy without any problems...I hope that Amazon can sort it out or tell us why it's not downloading...

Yes, there is no Adam Sandler but you wouldn't really tell the difference if you didn't know. Most importantly the kids love it. It's colourful and fun and different then the rest of the Transilvania Hotel. I really liked it as well, however, some of the reviews almost put me off. Actually, they did put me off but thankfully the kids decided we are watching it and it was absolutely fun to watch it with them. Just remember that it is a kids movie and not Benjamin Button or Constantine. It's suppose to be easy watching, have light sense of humor and be engaging for the kids so they can enjoy it. For what it suppose to be, it is a 5 star.
