Not bad, not good.
Great cinematography and a nice theme tune do nothing to disguise the fact that this show is otherwise unremarkable in every way. Neither as gripping as Breaking Bad nor as tense or authentic as The Wire, the carnival/party town aesthetic gets old quickly.

You've got a lead who's not a detective but feels compelled to get involved in the case anyway, just because she found the body; she continues to make poor decisions and wonders why her life is so disorderly. The crooked cop falls in love with his stripper confidante who's ratting on him. The cowardly young guy gets mixed up with the wrong people and lands himself into scrape after scrape, and the killer (who is revealed from the start, ruining any kind of tension or mystery) is a big scary black guy with zero character development, because that's totally fair and authentic (!) Clichés, the lot of 'em.

The cast are fine but the main characters are incredibly unlikeable because they do absolutely nothing to help themselves. If you want to watch people drink and take drugs for hour upon hour then be my guest, but it's really not that interesting. Given current affairs, I'm guessing this wannabe cop show is probably going to be canned and quickly forgotten about, which would be a shame for those involved, but not a huge surprise.

I fell asleep during episode 5 and that was it for me.

Not paying more.
Not a part of prime membership, compounded cost for tiered quality is not a good business model.

Really worth a watch
I really liked it and watched it back-to-back. Maybe that’s why I didn’t find it as slow as some people. If you stop and start I can see it would be harder to keep the momentum going. Ending was unexpected. Really hope it gets a second season.

Good story and plot
I found myself disliking a lot of the main characters which was interesting. I don't understand where the bad reviews are coming from....give it a try.

Great Show
I found this show fast-moving, well filmed and well acted and with an interesting alternative perspective. Yet the latter was far from sentimental. Most reviewers underestimated it.

Check it out.
Quirky, well-paced, confident direction. A tad too much gratuitous machismo and unnecessarily long sex scenes (being suggestive is always more gratifying and less obstructive to pace) but it’s acceptable as a contextualiser. Very good script, uniformly good performances. I like it.
