Hilarious - Henderson does Adult 'Puppets'
Verified purchase
I laughed soo much and it did not in anyway spoilt my childhood joys of the muppets. Do remember in this film its about puppets in general living in the human world, but are treated as second class citizens. There's drugs and guns and sex - this is Alternative Henderson people!
Bill Barretta was awesome as puppet Phil Phillips and I liked the partner duo with Melissa McCarthy - for me it worked and I felt there was some poignant moments too. The crime they investigate was interesting and moved at a decent pace to keep you guessing.

All in all a good night in and a good laugh!

the premise is good but seriously Melissa McCarthy?

the premise of an adult version of the muppets with a sadistic streak could have been so good.
and yet they cast the obnoxious Melissa McCarthy whose acting range consists of angry Walmart Karen only.
this film even though there are a couple of laughs is a massive misfire.
the only saving grace is that Seth Rogan was not cast as well as the combination of the unfunny chunky bearded one and Rogan would be unbearable.

Muppets for Adults (grandparental guidance advised)
Verified purchase
Caution: contains scenes of gratuitous stuffing gore, fluffy sexual references, innuendo and bad language. Rated R+ . I had seen something similar on the TV a while ago where street muppets were dealing candy and a muppet was a cop and his best friend muppet was on the street getting into trouble (or did I dream that?). So I guess this is a big screen version of that theme. Some laughs to be had but puppets getting their heads blown off with a shotgun and stuffing and limbs flying everywhere and the octopus and the cow crossed the line for me, I'm still having nightmares.

It's a long time since I laughed this hard

And boy, wt all need a good chuckle after years of awfulness, don't we? Yes, this is dirty, filthy mouthed, bonking, sugar dealing adult Muppets that will have you shocked and amused from the get go. There's no holding back from these guys and I'm grateful for it. Quite why some people give low ratings because they're shocked that cutesy Muppets can be portrayed this way really do need to read the details or watch the previews first and leave well alone. Anyway, I loved it and hope to see a heck of a lot more of the same!

Don't let the trailer put you off - Hilariously Adult

I wasn't too sure this was going to be a good movie; something about the trailer just didn't "sell it to me" but I decided to give it a go on the basis that Melissa McCarthy was in it and my rule of thumb is that if she's in it it's bound to be good (with the 1 exception - Identity Thief). So I was pleasantly surprised at how good the movie was. Plenty of Adult Jokes and funny scenes. I even enjoyed the credits when they had the bloopers and give a brief insite as to how they made the movie. Fantastic and worth watching.

Based on reviews of this movie, I wasn't sure what to expect. Yes there are some crude jokes in it but hey its for adults and there are alot of "in" jokes as well. The sex scene is so so so wrong ...but very very funny. Starts really well but after about 45 minutes or so begins to drag a bit. All in a solid 3 .5 stars for me. Liked the twist of the plot.

And can I just say I found Phil Phillips looked a bit like Angel the Vampire with his quaffed hair and coat bellowing behind him and a bit of brood going on (think there was an episode in buffy or angel when they became puppets! - maybe Phil Phillips look was inspired a bit by this episode?

All in all not bad at all.

This is not a Muppet movie. Or even a movie.

Mis-sold. Very misleading premise.
This is grotesque. Won't categorise it as comedy and there is no humour in it that lands.
All human actors are phoning it in.
This is basically the rebellious action of Brian Henson, possibly aggrieved at his father for not passing on any Muppet legacy. Either that or he is a genuine pervert.
Technical note, the puppet "design" is extremly lazy. Dead-eyed things with no moving parts able to express emotion of any sort. The whole thing is 100% dependant on green screen and it shows!!
Even the voice actors are just puppeteers, no actual actors. That shows, as well.
No thanks. I'd ask for my money back if that was an option.

Perfect movie for a Friday evening. Loaded with shocking humor and unique ideas.
If you take your movies too seriously you may enjoy it not as much but it's still a very good comedy.
FYI : I do like puppets, so I may be a bit bias hen it comes to this movie.
