Feel great film for the family

If you like flowers, gardens and a film filled with light heartedness, warmth and solidarity, you'd like this film. I've been to the Hampton Court Flower show a few times and I love it. I can relate to this film as I've seen the gardens. Really liked the storyline, simple story of lads who had given up hope and didn't know what to do with the future until they were transformed into Edgefield reform institution for prisoners. They accidentally fell or were forced to get into gardening, and their bond and creativity grow from there. It also teaches us it's never too late to learn anything if you put your mind to it. Loved Helen Mirren and all the characters in it.

A great discovery

(3.5 stars) I'm really glad to have discovered this film quite by chance. It's very gentle, slow-moving and old-fashioned, but it's so heartwarming, charming and entertaining. The film features early performances by Danny Dyer, Adrian Lester and Lucy Punch, which adds even more interest. Definitely worth a watch.

Don't be a movie snob - just enjoy it

Yes ok so it suffers from all the usual cliches and tropes, but it was enjoyable and good fun. Gotta love those long sunny summers we have in the UK and those picture box villages. It's like that all over the UK you know (and the pavements are paved with gold in London too).

And yes an early sight of Danny Dyer - a much maligned actor who started out good but sadly seemed to get caught up in behaving like his own caricature.
