The Great Gilly Hopkins

1 h 37 min201613+
A feisty foster kid's outrageous scheme to be reunited with her birth mother has unintended consequences. An entertaining film for the entire family about acceptance, rejection and the importance of love. Starring Kathy Bates, Glenn Close, Octavia Spencer and Julia Stiles, the film boasts remarkable performances and a message about hope and humanity which shines through. Awesome!

Lovely story and good acting

i really enjoyed this film. The acting was excellent, and the story touching, of how an angry foster girl, was met with love and acceptance, and this changed her life and others around her.

The Evolution of Gilly
My 13 year old granddaughter and I watched this film together. We both liked it a little t, I think she more than I, but it is a nice family film. Sophie Nelisse, whomplays Gilly is perfect in this role. However, it is Kathy Bates who brings it home.

Gilly, a young girl 13 or so, is a foster chikd. For some reason her mother left her in care. She us a very angry young woman not understanding why her mother would leave her, though from what we can gather Gilly is better off. Gilly directs her anger at otgersxand is moved from home to home until she comes to Mamie Trotter's house. Mamie plated by Kathy Bates, gives only love and she has another young boy who is a foster, young William Earnest. Gilly is also fostered in a manner by Violet Davis who plays a teacher and who understands her anger.

Great performances by all, but I was particularly touched by Sophie Nelisse. Good lessons to be learned by our young, watch it with them.
