Just stopped half way

I watched half of this last night, and I've just opened my laptop again this morning and realised that it was utterly forgetable and that I didn't care about continuing as there are better things to fill my brain with. So I've just closed the player.

Cute rom com that is sweet without being saccharine

Entertaining bridget jones style film with able cast. An up and coming writer gets dumped by her man, suffers writers block and lurches from crisis to crisis as her life unravels. Enter her flake of a mother, geeky brother and the family lodger as she embarks on a search for inspiration and the father she was told was dead. Confusion and mayhem ensue.

A light comedy
Verified purchase
Light comedy with a dramatic undertone - family issues, lies, separation, trauma, but also reconnection and happy ending. Sometimes we need such films, especially after watching the news and other depressing things.

Nice film, don't take the other reviews to heart, nice ending
Verified purchase
Yes, it's a bit quirky, no real obvious gags in it, but it steadily builds into a nice piece where the main character finds herself and the relationships with her family and friends are made good or found out for what they are.

Horrible mess of a movie
Verified purchase
For starters, the lead characters name isn't pronounced Imojean but Imogen. I know it's spelled with an e at the end, still. The story is a less, the dialogues are flat, the acting is mediocre. This movie is a mess. Don't waste your time. I wasted 15 precious minutes. It didn't take long to see it's a pass.

I really hated myself giving the film just 3 stars

I really hated myself giving the film just 3 stars...but I couldn't rate it any higher. I was hoping for so much more. It's not the actors fault though.
It's just such a tired storyline. I'm such a fan of kristin wiig. Her supporting roles in some films are really good. (the 'manager' from adventureland (hardly says a word in the whole film too)...and brilliant improvisation with ricky gervais in the hospital scenes in ghost story for example).
So finally she gets the lead...and the story and script are plain. She is so much better than that.
