As a sentimental guy who enjoys comedies to get a entertainment charged escape from the mandainity of a long work day..I didn't want to watch this movie. But there was not much left for me to watch on amazon prime,so I went for it.
I think I've spent the last 15 minutes of the movie crying...and I'm single, straight and in general have not much in common with those characters.
It's an amazing story and I think that Julianne Moore is absolutely brilliant in it together with the whole cast.
But that story is truly powerful, it cut right into my soft tissue, I really enjoyed it a lot!
I do recommend it to everyone who wants to see great performance, great story and have their emotional kick out of it with an reconciliating ending to it as well.

A very moving film about a dying woman who spent her last days fighting for her right to leave her pension benefits to the woman she loves.
As stated, "her right", so there should have been no need to fight for it.
Everything about this movie was done well, I really enjoyed it, (as much as you can "enjoy" a sad film) and I would watch it again.

There are a small minority that wouldn't enjoy this. You know who you are, so don't watch this and leave negative reviews based solely on your small minded views.

Moore is moving but Page is perfection

I'm not sure 'good' is the right way to describe this film. It's thought-provoking and heart-breaking, whilst at the same time being warm and sensitive. Great performances by Ellen Page and Julianne Moore, but also the other smaller parts were also brilliantly acted which helped to make this film the complete package. Sadly a true story, but one that changes many peoples' lives. Worth watching just for that.

Moving, emotional - a deeply sensitive portrayal of heartfelt love, romance and the spiritual bond between two women who must face prejudice and forever look over their shoulders. It is also the story of their struggle for justice against a brick wall of opposition while dealing with terminal illness. Commendable performances by Julianne Moore (Laurel Hester) and Ellen Page (Stacie Andree) who bond so well it is impossible to see the acting, indeed the entire cast work well. The cinematography is superb and it is well directed by Peter Sollett. Written by (screenplay) Ron Nyswaner and based on a true story. I enjoyed every minute of it - five stars all day long for everyone involved, even the best boy ok!

As a serving officer I was so looking forward to watching this and it defiantly didn't disappoint me, in fact I didn't cry until the last 5 minutes. Both actress played fantastic parts and portrayed the characters very well. You can see how much they wanted this to be a success. But most of all it showed what gay officers actually went through just to get the right actions for a spouse. Defiantly recommend watching it

I can't believe I hadn't heard more about this movie!

The trailers had me with the cast, but the movie is so much more gripping and fast paced than I thought it would be, and that's nothing compared to how relevant, emotional and well acted it is! If you're into true story movies this is one to watch, you will probablly find yourself hating some characters, thinking about life and crying your eyes out, so enjoy it!!!

This film touched me on a personal level... I am lesbian myself... I am 36 years old and i am lucky that times have changed and gotten a little better for same sex couples... this film is absolutely 'beautifully sad' that's he only way i can describe it... I'm so proud of all the gay people in past who have stood up for my rights ! Way before my time... and its brave... it's still really hard because people still judge .. but hey .. one day we will all be completely equal . And if not.. be proud of who you are !!!

I don't get why this film had bad reviews online, don't listen to them, this film is beautiful and amazing
having to fight for what everybody else can get just because you are lgbt is an eye-opener! this is why we will never stop fighting for our
lgbt rights, this film shows the blueprint to gay marriage laws being passed further down the line well 10 years later.
