I don’t really get the negative reviews (or rather, maybe I do, but I’d be casting aspersions on the reviewers if I were to comment further). It’s a small scale, realistic human drama which doesn’t bottle out and fall back on clichés to get by.

The situation which develops is plausible and speaks to the truth that good people can get wrapped up in and end up doing bad things. There’s a masterful speech by Tom Wilkinson part way through where he makes a pretty conv8ncing case for doing the wrong thing. It’s great to see him being allowed to act rather than just effect a US accent in a cast to type role.

Some might argue that in other hands the plot would descend to darker depths and a bigger payoff. It almost does when the main three characters meet up towards the end, but then they back away. Although it feels slightly odd because we’re so used to how this type of movie might go, the chosen path for the plot is actually more believable. At the end, this is about the struggles of the characters (in particular Joel Edgerton’s character).

It’s not perfect, Jai Courtney’s character is a bit one dimensional and when some colour is added, it’s a bit crass. But this doesn’t spoil what is ultimately a very welcome change from the unrealistic CGI laden stuff on Prime.

If you’re short of attention span or don’t get movies unless they’re very loud and have people with guns on the posters, give it a miss. Oh, wait a minute, the idiots in publicity, put a picture of cops with guns on the poster. No wonder some people are disappointed. Have the marketing bunnies never heard of expectations management?

It is OK. It seems to want to show the different reactions and emotions brought on because of a road accident. And how the people involved deal with them. Only it doesn't show these very well.

Watching this film was a complete waste of time. Must remember to read the review first. Shan't make the mistake again. Austarilan low budget films seemed to have poor plot and mediocre acting. AVOID
