"From a Faithful Cher Fan"
Verified purchase
I am a 17 year old Cher fan and I absolutely love this movie. Did not expect the DVD cover and main menu screen to be in German but the movie was in English. Cher is aboslutely beautiful, hilarious and a fabulous actress. She has come a long way from staring in Chastity. "Faithful" is a great movie, not recognised enough!

Great Film if you Like Black Comedy. Or Cher. Or Both.
If you're in the mood for a really good black comedy, this may be just the ticket. Jack and Margaret have been married for a long time, and they appear to have it all. And on their 20th wedding anniversary Jack sends Margaret a very special present: the hitman he has hired to kill her. Because, you see, she's bored with her luxury life, she's depressed, and Jack is having an affair with his glamourous secretary. Who is a demanding woman with expensive tastes. So Jack really does need to cash in on his wife's life insurance. The plan seems simple, but when hitman Tony comes face to face with his suicidal victim things take an unexpected turn.

Cher is quite sensational as Margaret. She and Chazz Palmitieri in the role of the hired killer play beautifully off each other. The script is rather clever (it's based on a play written by Chazz Palmitieri and adapted for the screen by himself) and both leads do it full justice. Ryan O'Neal is perfectly cast as Margaret's sleazy husband and plays the despicable coward well.

The DVD I own is the one produced for the German market. This is a Region 2 product and will play on standard European/UK devices. The film will play in English without subtitles. There is also a German dubbed version. English subtitles are not available. However, sound quality is very good and the dialogue is easily understandable. Cover notes and menu are in German. It is possible to change the language to English via the remote during play, so it really doesn't matter if you can't figure out the set up menu. The aspect ratio is 4:3. Which isn't a huge problem with a dialogue driven film such as this. Otherwise the picture quality is good, though not comparable to modern HD standards.
