I first saw this on Netflix a year ago but it isn't there now , so i decided to have it for my own, I'm afraid i was a little annoyed it was late arriving hence one star deducted for that...but can't fault the DVD itself great condition and the movie still makes me cry of my favourite christian movies.

It is a film of adventure, character building, faith, successful application, morality, honouring God, a fun film, enjoyable throughout with no bad or slow spots. Thoroughly entertaining with a tremendous message I have already watche dit three times and it reveals something every time I watch it in me and about me and for me. True family viewing at it's best!

Never would have predicted how much I love this.

Although this was made by a church as part of their ministry, the camera work is by a professional and helps give the movie a high-quality. Alex Kendrick, the director, gets great performances out of his non-professional cast. Absolutely heart-warming and inspiring, this is a wonderful family film. Some reviews have complained the film is Christian propaganda - well, it's aimed at Christians. If you're not a Christian, please don't watch it and then complain that it's for Christians! It's purpose is not to convert you, it is for the encouragement of believers. Still my favourite Kendrick Brothers movie - I can't believe I love a film about football.

Lessons on Christianity in 'Facing the Giants'
Verified purchase
I know on one level this movie is just entertainment and i know that there are some people who will switch off as soon as they realize it has a Christian message in it, but this film deals with some fundamental Christian truths which need to be spoken of more often.
The Christian life is not an easy life (it wasn't easy for Jesus or any of the apostles, so why should we expect it to be easy for us). It's a life filled with trials and troubles, and God designs it so in order to bring us closer to Him and make us more like Him.
Trouble can often come from the most unexpected of sources, including other Christians and even our best friends. We see how this is best dealt with through patience, love and forgiveness.
The things in this world that are given so much hype and attention; in this film, football (but you can name your sport or celebrity) are really not what this world is all about, and we see that dealt with too.
Finally, there truly is nothing impossible for God and those who are absolutely faithful and obedient to His will, will often see that, as we see in the film (one cautionary note here however, unlike the movie, God does not always give us exactly what we hope for, but He will give us what is best for us).

This film is so inspiring and helps to remind you that with God in your side nothing is impossible and situations and circumstances can change as long as you stay focused and remain close to Him.

Excellent, Inspiring & Encouraging

This is a really good film with a great story. I found it moving, inspiring, encouraging and challenging and one of the best films I have seen in a long time. Whether you watch this film from a Christian standpoint or not, you can get something from it. Yes it is a Christian film with a clear message, but you can still watch it from a purely non Christian standpoint and enjoy it as an entertaining, uplifting story - I know many that have. I'm a Christian myself and intend to share this film with many that I know. Not to ram a message down their throats, but just to share a really great film with a great story.
It's well made, well acted and having just seen Fire Proof by the same film makers, they are just getting better and better. Enjoy!

Strong Christian message - well worth the time if you want "content" over "big budget"!
Verified purchase
Facing the Giants has a strong Christian message of trusting God - not about seeing but believing, marital trials (infertility, financial pressure, work tension), and the reality that God's promises are reliable. When you consider that the cast are not "pros" you must give it a little slack, but the strong story line beats the slick and shallow Hollywood non-sense that is all to common. You will get sucked into the story and will find yourself absorbed, convicted and a little emotional at times, especially if you have dealt with similar challenges in the past. This is not a Hollywood movie - well worth the time if you want content over big budget.
Other must see movies by the same producers: "Fireproof" and "Courageous". [[ASIN:B001Q411AC Fireproof.Special Collector's Edition.2009.]] / [[ASIN:B005FLARMA Courageous [DVD]]]

"American motherhood and Apple pie" that actually packs a punch and powerful Christian message - Loved it!

Highly inspirational, great message, unapologetic regarding the fact it is a Christian film and I loved it. Watching the football games and the practices in the film, some of the contact was fierce, I had it on my surround sound and it was awesome. More of this type of film please.
