-not the easiest process, you have to scrub the wax on [compared to, say, a spray]
-the act of scrubbing the wax on leaves unevenness, again, more so than a spray.
-My trousers are a light grey colour, the wax is darker where there is more wax, so the trousers have visible wax streaks - where a spray may leave a more even distribution.
-more hassle, a troublesome application technique, with less even results.

Firstly, the application is easy enough although a single coat uses a good amount of the wax and several coats were recommended by Fjallraven to achieve best results. This will quickly use up half or more of the wax on a single item of clothing. Also the wax doesn’t melt that well on areas such as seams and does tend to leave white marks.
I applied several coats of wax pre trip and luckily never had to find out how well the waterproofing worked due to great weather. Unfortunately the day after my trip I used the trousers for the five minute (1mile) bike ride to the station on my morning commute in fairy heavy rain and was completely soaked through after just this short trip. Legs and boxer shorts were very wet and even reinforced areas where the wax is easier to apply kept no water out. I honestly might as well have been wearing jeans for all the good the wax has done to waterproof the trousers. Very disappointing considering the price of fjallraven gear and how the wax was advertised.
This wax will probably keep a light drizzle from soaking your gear but any amount of proper rain and it seems completely useless. I’ll be sticking to Goretex gear in the future.
I've applied several coats of this wax on my anorak N°8 and melted it in carefully with a electric hairdryer. And after 30mn in the rain I was completely soaked wet and very angry.
This stuff is pure RUBBISH.
Stick to Barbour, and for the clothing too !!
