Pure escapism, and the baddie get it in the end!
Verified purchase
Bang, crash, wallop! Totally unbelievable, a complete distortion of reality, villains of near-pantomime malevolence and a nonsense of a plot ... this film has it all. Absolutely brilliant escapism, watch it with a loved one and a bottle of plonk to avoid having to manicure the gerbils. Two hours of wickedly entertaining distraction from the hum-drum of a bad day at the office, interlaced with wit, humour, action and with some serious heavyweight 'action hero' actors all gently parodying themselves. Love it for the stuff-and-nonsense that it is; just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Disappointing. English only language and Subtitles.

DVD Version. Sold at a great discount, and delivered by Amazon UK. No damage. New & shrink wrapped. I found it better than no2, for having very physical Wesley Snipes on the team, and Mel Gibson as a top class villain! But Stallone and Statham are having too much screen time, and becoming a drag on the franchise. (Stallone, having left the series, has changed his mind for a return to Expendables 4, and has said it will be his last. I think Gerard Butler would be a credible leader; and Scott Adkins would be a good addition.) I have 1 & 2 on Blu Ray; number 2 has 2 great fights, from the final battle, in the extras - seemingly edited from the theatrical cut because of one, or 2, stars insecurity! Recommended for Wes S., Mel G, and decent action. One 🌟 star reduction for Audio only English language; and English Subtitles, otherwise 3 🌟's.

Beaucoup Bad Guys eliminated in the Worlds craziest 25min gunfight at the finale
Verified purchase
Dont even try to point out the unrealistic scenes, the never ending ammunition expenditure for weapons that work all by themselves, and no thought for resupply et al. The magical never ending provision of bad guys getting blown to bits in the last 25 mins, is a sight to behold.
Just put away the serious face for once and enjoy as the bad guys become history :)
I am convinced once he departs this mortal coil, Stallone will enact a fiery goodbye blowing away the bad guys on route to his final resting place. Suspend disbelief and enjoy .... :)

fun action film

Bought for my son - its a fun action film. No more violent than an avengers film but a little more bad language than expected for a 12 rating.
Lots of in jokes and its great to see all the 80's action guys in one film.

Ok film, bad disc
Verified purchase
I remember watching this in the cinema and it was an ok film, but the discs for this all (I've tried buying a few times from a few places, all first hand so I'm confident it's not second hand scratched disc bad luck) fail about 15 minutes from the end of the movie. The characters are trapped in a tower block, tanks are closing in, and then it freezes. Something is clearly wrong with the manufacture of this film's DVD release.

Pure Escapism - suspend belief for an hour or so
Verified purchase
Lots of shooting the bad Ruskies and over-the-top stunts, but it was still enjoyable to watch. There were several comedic moments, and Antonio Banderas' character had the best fun, comedy wise. It was a good way to showcase the youngsters taking over, and the use of technology rather than just shooting and fighting your way out. Utter nonsense, but fun to watch!

The Extendables
Verified purchase
The usual combination of implausibly ancient action heroes, mangled dialogue, skeletal plot, things exploding and an inexplicable conviction that chucking a knife at something is in some way awesome: But this time there are young people who are so obviously going to need rescuing by the old people from Mel Gibson's wooden bad guy that this revelation doesn't even qualify as a spoiler.

Still, you don't rent this type of movie for its philosophical subtext, psychological plotting or acting, so in context it is watchable enough and fills a couple of hours on a dull Saturday night.

The old ones are the best. (Actors are great as always).

Just as good as the previous 2 films if you like the previous 2 then you will enjoy this one. Also if you are fans of the leading role actors they are as good in these films as all the other films they have made and starred in. Get ready and enjoy another action packed film.
