Gripping story
Verified purchase
Ok, so the sound is pretty bad, dialogs at times incomprehensible, but there are subtitles and giving one or two stars to a film based on an accent does not do the film justice. It is a very gripping story, told from a perspective of Escobar's long time lover who was very much on the inside. However, it is not limited to her narrative but captures the crazy, murderous, incomprehensible time when Escobar de fact ruled Colombia and even went to war with the state. I have watched a very long Colombian series on Escobar before and read on the subject so have to say that Americans like to inflate their role in the eventual capture of Escobar. However cruel and violent, this story is incredible, film engaging and acting excellent.

Don't watch if you love dogs

I would not pay to watch this film again. Is it really necessary to show a dog being beaten to death whilst tied to a man because he was a trator, its sick, i stopped watching the film at that point. Not what i would consider entertainmenr

Fascinating Biopic
Verified purchase
Very good and well acted (expecially by Javier Bardam.) Already famous Pablo Escobar falls for a journalist (Penelope Cruz - his real life wife.) She becomes concerned about his ruthlessly drug deals.
One mans Robin Hood is another woman's çriminal. Warning about the level of violence and swearing, but I personally found it fascinating.

Cannot understand what they are saying, no subtitles.

I did not watchmore than 7 minutes, this os because i only could understand 70% of what the actors were saying. It says this has subtitles, but there are non. Waste of money if i cannot understand what is being said.

Sound quality not great
Verified purchase
Whilst you can get the general gist of the movie, I found the sound quality was particularly poor, especially when you have to make sense of quite strong accents as well as the mumbling. All in all, would recommend renting it rather than purchasing it as I don't think I'd bother watching it again.

Problem with the sound.

Cruz is excellent in this movie - brings a genuine sense of Latin woman to the flow and plot. Bardem is good too - a natural sense of menace but his speech is garbled, muffled - incoherent at times. It was a playback issue. Made adjustments to Amazon's Dolby format and it improved but was still pretty awful.

Overall though, the movie breaks no new ground.

Poor sound quality.

I could barely hear what was being said throughout the entire movie, the music was far too loud. I tried adjusting my soundbar but it made no difference. It was similar to the TV series on Netflix so I didn't really miss much.
